stuming
Hi I've had my Line 6 Variax bass 700 for a few years now and I use it everyday. I play through a Helix into a JBL 815 monitor. Recently (over the last couple of days) I was worried that the monitor was losing the bottom end due to its frequency response range. I compared my variax 700 through the monitor, set to emulate a Gibson Thunderbird via an amp model, to my Epiphone Thunderbird into a Trace Elliot 500W combo. There was definitely something muddy and squashy about the low E string. So then I ran my Epiphone Thunderbird through the Helix and into the JBL, and everything sounded lovely. So, doing a bit more testing, I've come to the conclusion that it's likely the pickup on my low E string on my variax bass is going "bad" in some way. So, my questions are: 1. Has this happened to anyone before? 2. Can I fix this myself, given I've got a spare Variax 6 string guitar lying around which I bought for spares? 3. Is there anywhere that can sort this for me if I can't do point 2, and how much? Thanks Stuart
