HX Stomp “-8701 - Preset translation not supported, dsp block constraint exceeded”

I recently purchased the HX Stomp with the House of Worship bundle from Sweetwater.  I am unable to import the Worship presets via HX Edit.  I receive the message “8701 - Preset translation not supported, dsp block constraint exceeded”.  I can add these patches to Helix Native in both GarageBand(Mac) and Reaper(Windows).

-what am I doing wrong with HX Edit?

-is there a way to load them onto the pedal from helix native?
-any other suggestions?

I’m new to the helix line and to using a DAW so I will admit to a learning curve.  With that said I’ve followed instructions precisely.  Something to mention is that I’ve attempted in both Mac Catalina and Windows 10.

using Helix Native 1.92, HX Edit 2.92, Stomp Firmware 2.92

Not all Native presets will work for the Stomp. Native presets can have more blocks than the Stomp. If you want to export presets from Native to the Stomp, you can set Native to Stomp Compatibility Mode in the Settings menu. It will be limited to one processor path and 6 blocks.

Hi,

The Sweetwater website does the whole range of HX products with the “House of Worship” bundle. As noted by “phil_m” in his post above, your HX Stomp cannot load any presets with more than 6 blocks. I’m unsure how the access you have to worshiptutorials.com differentiates between what specific bundle you can access. If you inadvertently download preset made for the LT, Floor or Rack units they will load into HX Native without issue, because HXN can process all the blocks.

If you download any preset which will load into Native simply check the amount of blocks it uses - more than 6 it will not transfer to your hardware. As Phil said, you can turn on the Stomp Compatibility Mode in the Settings menu.

It basically seems that you have managed to download patches not designed for you product.

Hope this helps/makes sense.

Thanks fellas for the response.  I’m working with Sweetwater to figure this out.  They sold the HX Stomp as a bundle “HXSTOMPHOW” which included a House of Worship presets download from www.worshiptutorials.com. The download was called “WT Sweetwater Exclusive Line 6 Helix Patch Pack” .

I was able to confirm that the Sweetwater patch won’t work on the HX Stomp.  Both Line6 and Worship Tutorials confirms.  So I’m not sure why Sweetwater has it bundled with the HX Stomp.

Line 6 says that I can switch Helix Native settings to HX Stomp then load in the presets however , this doesn’t solve the problem.  The error message appears referencing the number of parallel paths and dsp blocks.

Hi,

Well at least you now know that your hardware is not at fault. As you have stated, the issue is that Sweetwater have bundled presets to sell with the HX Stomp, which are designed for the full Helix processing power.

Yes you can load them into HX Native where they will work fine, but you would have to re-jig the presets in order to load them into your Stomp and even then that may not be possible. Nope, you shouldn't have to do that.  I don't know how they can, but I think Sweetwater will have to make amends for the error. The trouble with things like this is, the presets are essentially software and usually no refunds are available for software that has "technically" been used.

Good luck.
