Amp switching via TRS on Boss amp

Friends, I am having a game getting my Boss Nextone Amp to respond consistently to amp inputs from the Helix and I would appreciate any help or advice on what I am doing wrong...  For information this is a Helix LT, 3.01, going into a Boss Nextone Artist amp via a short TRS connection.  The Global settings are switched to allow expression 2 to function for amp control.

The aim: to be able to activate a snapshot and have it set the amp to a known state ie: a preselected channel with boost on or off.  Switching snapshots should change the state of the amp's channel or boost.

What I have done:  Created a new patch.  Created 4 snapshops.  Set the "instant" switches in the Command Centre to change state between snapshots, eg Tip and Ring off should give lead channel and boost on, thru to tip and ring on should give clean and no boost.

What happens:  It works some of the time but the switching behaviour is really inconsistent.  Sometimes it works perfectly, sometimes the boost engages, sometimes it doesn't  There doesn't seem to be any obvious pattern when it fails to do what it should.  The channel select seems to work as directed most of the time, the boost is more inconsistent.

Any advice would be most appreciated!

Thanks and Happy New Year!

I believe the Instant Commands for the EXT AMP outputs only work if you have the EXT AMP command(s) assigned to footswitch(es) as well. Otherwise they work erratically, like you're saying. I know this is how it was for a long time, and I'm not sure if it was ever changed.

I don't have a Nextone, but I do have a multimeter.

Attached preset makes the following assumptions based on the Nextone Manual:

CLEAN - NONE

CLEAN BOOST - 2

LEAD - 1

LEAD BOOST  - 1 and 2

I ran through a dozen snapshot changes and couldn't get a fail.

rd2rk, thanks for that - that's above and beyond!   I'll give the snapshot a go and see if I can get it to work.  I was playing around with it again yesterday and I think the problem could be that the state of the "boost" channel seems to be persistent when switching out of the lead channel to the clean.  So if you switch the channel from Lead with Boost to a Clean without boost, you sometimes get clean boost.  If you cycle the snapshot a couple of times it gets back into sync.  I had been trying to figure out if I could use the instant commands to reset it back to a known state after each change ...
