Jimmybeijng2014
So as long as I hook up my HD500x with USB,the internal signal is forced to the HD500x driver in the PC,and then back to the unit's output, the routing like this:Guitar -- HD -- USB -- the Driver -- USB -- HD -- Output. It is still one ad da converting, but the driver cuts in the middle right?Because the driver now controls the output beyond the onboard master knob, the proof is if I turn the driver control panel hardware monitor all the way down there is no sound coming out even the master knob is all the way up.So no more direct output form the unit USBed ?Thus I can't connet another XLR output to my another audio interface with direct monitor on,it means two real time asio processing and that's why I get BSOD ?I don't want to use the unit as my main interface because the latency is not good enough(I have other VIs and plugins to work with),and inconvenience, but I do want to use the Editor cause it's handy to tweak patch.Am I doing something wrong? How do you guys record with this unit? pianoguyy
If you want the audio to come out of your computer instead of the pod. you would switch the signal flow to the opposite direction.

Nope,I want the signal direct out of my pod whlie connecting with usb
hurghanico
It often happens that when you install the driver of an audio interface (eg the POD) that AI is automatically set as the default one for the operating system (and its audio programs), and therefore as soon as it is connected to the USB it takes the place of any other AI (internal or external) that until that moment was being used (and conflicts could possibly happen, but not necessarily). To effectively re-establish/select (if necessary) which AI (other than the POD) should be and remain the default one for the operating system (even in case other AI will be connected to the USB) it is necessary that all the audio interfaces present (and already installed) are turned on and connected at the same time, doing so the OS audio control panel is able to display to the user the full list of the installed AIs, and between all them you can effectively choose which one should be always used by the OS. The OS should remember and stick to the given preference once and for all (or at least until an audio interface driver will be installed again). 20 hours ago, Jimmybeijng2014 said: if I turn the driver control panel hardware monitor all the way down there is no sound coming out even the master knob is all the way up.So no more direct output form the unit USBed ? The hardware monitor level needs to be all the way up, otherwise no "live/direct" signal goes through USB (if the POD is selected as AI) and the standard outputs (headphones included) until the unit is connected to USB. Remember that the POD driver is required both to be able to use the editor with the POD connected and to use the POD as an audio interface. The ASIO part of the driver pack is used only when the POD is the selected AI in the DAW and ASIO driver is chosen. FYI only 1 asio driver at the same time can be used by any DAW (or recording) programs, if the system crashes it is for other reasons of incompatibility, or for insufficient power, or too low buffer settings _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips Edited February 8, 2021 by hurghanico

If so,then turning down the driver's hardware monitor level shouldn't affect the unit's analog output signal because it is passing direct through the unit (unselected as AI)right?Or it just has to be all the way up ? hurghanico
Ad I said before the POD ASIO part of the driver pack is used/called only when the POD is working as the selected AI in the DAW. But the POD driver pack is made of several parts: one for exchanging data between the Editor and the device, one for ASIO, one for Direct-X, etc.. The POD hardware monitor level is not an ASIO specific function, actually it affects globally the standard audio analog outputs only for your live playing (and not for the already recorded audio possibly coming from USB) and only until the unit is connected to the USB. PS. in my previous post I said a wrong thing, ie that no signal goes through USB when the hardware monitor level is off... well, it is not true, actually what happens is only that you can't hear the direct hardware monitoring (which has zero latency) of your live playing, but you can still hear (only in case the POD is the selected/used AI) audio recorded playback and live audio monitoring coming from the DAW (necessarily with some latency) eg when you want to monitor live the effect of an IR loader vst plugin. 18 hours ago, Jimmybeijng2014 said: if I use the other AI as my OS and DAW Audio device, the analog output is there and no signal is going through the connecting usb cable? As I said above here the hardware monitor level is a global (not asio specific) function until the the unit is connected to the USB. If the POD is connected by USB and your headphones or speakers are connected to the POD to hear the "POD" direct hardware monitoring (zero latency) the hardware monitor level needs to be up to hear the signal. If the POD is connected to another AI which is the one selected in the DAW your headphones or speakers should be conected to that AI, in this case it doesn't matter anymore the POD hardware monitor level setting, you should instead find, enable and use the direct monitoring of your AI to get zero latency. Then if you want to monitor live a vst plugin applied to the guitar signal you are forced to disable the AI direct monitoring and enable the DAW live track monitoring (with some latency). _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
