HX Stomp AMP/Fuzz combined Modeling Issue

Hello
It seems that using some fuzz modeling distortion blocks will effect the amp modeling output and sound.

For example, if I use Industrial Fuzz with any Amp Modelings (say US Small Tweed), the amp distortion,  output volume and sound gets effected even if I turn off the Fuzz block off.

if I delete the fuzz block, then the amp normal sound comes back.

Is this normal?

Has anyone else seen this issue?

I have latest firmware (3.01.0) installed on HX Stomp.

Thanks for your help

In Global Settings>Preferences set Auto In-Z to FIRST (HXS) or FIRST ENABLED (HELIX).

In your Presets, in the INPUT BLOCK, leave IN-Z set to AUTO.

This allows Helix to set the Input Impedance (which loads your pickups) to the impedance that the first active effect or amp expects to see.

If you're using pedals between your guitar and the Helix, your pickups will be loaded (affects high frequencies) at whatever those pedals' impedances are.

If you're using wireless, your pickups are always loaded at 1M.

If you need a lengthy and pseudo scientific explanation of what all of this means, there's a huge long thread over on TGP in the Digital and Modeling Forum started by @Tito83 where it's all explained over and over in painful detail.

Suffice it to say that L6 included the settings I described above in v3.0 largely as a result of that thread, and credited @Tito83 in the release notes.

Thank you for the reply rd2rk.

The setting you proposed did not work (that was the setting I had), but changing the Presets,  INPUT BLOCK setting, to 1M fix the issue.

Interesting is that I don’t use wireless, but I use the Neutric SilentPLUG (Mogami Gold Cable).  Maybe that’s the reason?  Or maybe my pickups are just acting strange (old Aria Pro II guitar with humbuckers)

In any case, the issue is resolved by this setting.

Thank you for your help on this.

Since 1M is what plugging straight into an amp gives, unless you've got some reason to want something else - "authentic" tone from certain old fuzzes - 1M gets the proper high frequency response from most humbuckers. Glad you worked it out!

From the manual:

Quote

Global Preferences > Preferences > Auto In-Z

Determines how the input’s impedance circuit behaves when the Input block > Input Main L/R > In-Z is set to “Auto.” When set to “First Block” (the default), the impedance circuit reflects the first block’s impedance within the signal path, regardless of whether it’s enabled or bypassed. When set to “First Enabled,” the impedance circuit reflects the impedance of the first enabled block in the signal path.

Input Block Settings > In-Z
once the signal drops below the threshold level. HX Stomp has an impedance circuit on its Main L/R inputs that affects tone and feel by loading your guitar’s pickups as they would by an effect pedal or amplifier. A lower value will typically result in some high frequency attenuation, lower gain, and an overall “softer” feel. A higher value provides full frequency response, higher gain, and an overall “tighter” feel. The “Auto” option allows the impedance to reflect the impedance of the first block in the signal path.

A solution for the OP problem would be setting Global Preferences > Preferences > Auto In-Z to Enabled.
Another is to change the input impedance via snapshots.

You are correct. On Helix it's "First Enabled". On the HXS it's "Enabled". Oops.
