GabbyRoad
Sorry - i am new here and I am sure this is an old topic - but I did not find it ? With much discussion around powered speakers to use on stage as a monitor for a POD GO. I am going to make the assumption that using the full modeling features of the device, I would want something on stage that is closely mirroring what is coming out FOH ?? That being said - a nice QSC 10 or 12 powered cab would fit the bill nicely?? Why would I want anything else? What am i missing here? That is just me saying that your idea of getting a "FOH replicator" is correct. The actual product selection is up to you and could vary based on your needs. How much volume does one need. Do you want something that sits on the floor at the front of the stage like a wedge monitor, or something that is behind you like a guitar amp would be. Maybe something that is raised (on a stick). Stereo or mono. If stereo, do you need a master/slave setup or do you control them individually. Or, even, do you want to run a daisy chain, so that you can run 12 at the same time. Plus, quite frankly, some people don't take nice gear to bar gigs. In which case, they make sure they use the nice gear to build tone at home. And then have something that is not as nice to get puked on, maybe an old beat up guitar amp with an fx loop to bypass the 'tone' section. It will color the tone a bit, but if you are on a stage, your patches should already be set up properly because it is too late to tweak you tone. GabbyRoad
Thanks - yes i get you. The water is just muddied out there with people recommending certain guitar amps - which makes no sense to me. That being said - I want something small and sonically very good. I have a few gigs a year on large stages - but a 1 - 12" setup has always been sufficient. I have owned many of the QSC K series products - great performers. As this is now a hobby may downgrade a little to the Yamaha DBR series???? Not sure why folks don't use these over "dedicated modeling amp powered speaker products" - - like Headrush, Line6 and others (some quite pricey) ??? still looking - THANKS!! oh - and MONO

The Laney FR112 is a great option too as it includes cab monitoring and is a cheaper option than the Line 6 Power Cab.

I think where some people say to use a guitar amp is because they like hearing same room guitar amp sound, simply not used to hearing pa sound. Most of them talk about the 'warmth of the tubes'. Which, I don't have either issue: 1. I never used a tube amp (unless backlined). My amp for 20+ years was a Peavey Bandit 65. 2. If it wasn't loud enough, I had it sent back through the monitors the same as keyboards and vocals. And then, as the stages got bigger and bigger, the amps got put backstage in a sound room and all I ever heard was monitors. No need for same room sound. No need for 'air push'. My tone is built. I just need enough volume to hear myself.
