Before existence of JTV, I upgraded my old Variax 500 with bridge SH4 pickup, Sustainiac, locking tuners and graphtech nut.

Just finished video with it...

Thank you guys.

I made soundtrack for one festival, where is my variax not seen, only sounds.... deep tone with octaver from start and solo.

Not everything is like it looks for first time...

does the sustainiac work at the same time as the variax?

No, this is not possible (?). Sustainiac needs magnetic bridge pickup for functionality.

Is there no way to use the bridge pickup but have it muted so that it could be used for the sustainiac? That way it could drive the sustainiac but you hear the Variax only.

I don´t think so. Sustainiac is only driver, sound comes from bridge pickup.

Anyway I can´t see advantage of "sustained" variax sound. Shorter sustain you can do via compressor or overdrive too, and infinite sustain is so different sound, that really doesn´t matter if it comes from strat, lespaul or whatever.

For example ebow partly works for acoustic guitar too. But this sound is not like acoustic guitar at all.
