snapo101
I'm trying to recreate this sound on the helix, could anyone help me with what effects I could use and or amp? I want to recreate the exact sound in the first 30 seconds.
DunedinDragon
His tone is less about the amp and effects and more about technique. He's palm muting against the bridge to get that unique xylophone sound. Other than that it's pretty much a slightly driven vox style amp with reverb and probably a bit of chorus.
codamedia
The same "effect/amp" tone is used throughout the song... match the tone of those big chords he plays then work on the technique used in the intro to get the sound. The guitar has a big part in the tone. Aside from being humbuckers, the pickup selection changes throughout the song. The intro (plucking parts) are done with the guitar in the middle position... both humbuckers. This is open and airy. The chords/strums are done with the bridge pickup only. This is more mid-focused and tight.
