joshuarjohnson29
Hi all, never posted here but i might put this here is as a soft warning for any potential buyers of Amplifi amps in the future. I bought a used amplifi 150 a few years back, as the concept seems so perfect for a home amp. ive had it for a couple years now, and when it works right i LOVE it it really makes playing at home quick and easy without taking up a bunch of space. The problems Im having now are all seeming to come with age. Ive done firmware updates on it twice since I got it, constantly have to delete and redownload the app to get it to connect to the amp, factory resets, having to wait for the app to be updated when android updates its stuff and the app needs to catch up, and really just countless connection issues. It sucks because i really do think the ampifi is innovative and a great looking product as well. And these are all issues I had never even considered when i originally got it. Ive been a line 6 nut since i was a kid and got my first Spider series amps and have had multiple line 6 products and enjoyed every single one. If youre in the market to pick up an amplifi 75/150 my suggestion is look elsewhere and avoid the annoyance. All love to Line 6!
timfingers
So Now!!! in 2024 it seems that Line 6 has completely abandoned folks who bought the Amplifi 75 and 150 amps. I can't find the app anywhere to download. Apparently line 6 doesn't feel they need to support newer android versions which made the amp not much more than a boat anchor to me. (Here's The Deal): I was ready to sell my Amplifi 150 to supplement the cost of the Helix. But, Its value was in the app so the amp is nothing more than a solid state practice amp now. It looks like i'll be buying a Neural Quad Cortex instead of a Helix. Shame on you guys for abandoning your faithful customers again. I've been buying your products since you first introduced the POD. Never again!!!!! I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not going to allow myself to get abandoned again. Gear in general is just way to expensive.

Gear in general is just way to expensive. You're not wrong, per se. But this is a "Don't hate the playa, hate the game" situation... If you think that any other company out there will care any more about your desire to use stuff forever, then you're in for a lifetime of disappointment...and the only thing that's gonna change is the name of the company you're currently mad at. Neural DSP is not any more interested in selling you one device that you'll use for the rest of your days than anybody else is. That's not how things work in a disposable economy. Planned obsolescence is real, and it's been with us for quite some time, now. It really doesn't matter what sort of product we're talking about, or who's making it. The pace at which technology currently evolves guarantees that it simply is not feasible to keep any one device that relies on connectivity with other 3rd party stuff, updated and fully functional in perpetuity. It's a costly, and ultimately a losing battle. Virtually everything becomes obsolete in short order, regardless of the profit motive. The real problem is that we're forging ahead too fast for our own good, on multiple fronts. It's the reason that even life's bare essentials are now driving folks into poverty. It sucks, and it's a problem in dire need of a solution...but L6 didn't cause it. They just make toys for us to use, and if they refuse to play in the same sandbox as everybody else, they'd just disappear too...
