mwschwartz
As I am starting to set up both multiple presets, and starting to use Snapshots, etc., I am finding getting volumes to match so I can quickly move from one to the other onstage and have equal volumes is becoming problematic. Is there a way, or what is the best way to control, really, equilibrate, the volumes of all the various presets, snapshots, etc? There are volume controls on all blocks, inputs, outputs, FX loop, etc. and it is really cumbersome to manage them. Especially, now that I have a number of pre-sets all set up, to have to go back and change them and their respective snapshots, etc is really tiresome and a time sink. Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to manage volumes, both from the get go, as well as going back and equilibrating a bunch of already set up blocks, etc? Thanks. silverhead
This is a very good question that comes up periodically. It’s been answered in much detail in several previous threads. Problem is, the search feature on this forum an underperformer, and that’s being kind. I would love to just give you a few good links if I could only find them. So I’m reluctant to repeat all the helpful and thoughtful information that I KNOW is here somewhere. I’ll keep looking, and you might want to try (again?). If anyone has better luck finding this history please provide a link…

mwschwartz
Thanks - the article was referring to the Helix, but the take home message was the same - use the final output block to get as close as possible, and they may need to be re-set for each specific gig (halls are different, etc.). Changing volume after all the effects and amps, etc. prevents tonal changes due to volume changes moving through the chain (which makes sense). Plus, it is easier then messing with a bunch of individual volume knobs. Do you know, if you set the output volume at the end of the chain, does it carry over for all the Snapshots in a block? Thanks everyone.
silverhead
That’s a good summary. You shouldn’t have to change the individual presets when moving to different venues. If the levels of all presets are balanced you can make a global adjustment using the device’s main volume setting, and perhaps using the Global EQ. The Output volume will not be directly affected by changing Snapshots, unless you choose to assign it as a Snapshots parameter. You may wish to do this if certain Snapshots are inherently louder than others.
cain29671
I also had this issue, especially when downloading presets that other users have created. I use the VU meter in Reaper DAW to set the preset/snapshot volume levels, or in this case Gain. The Pod Go is connected via audio interface and with the AI gain constant for all presets. Use one of the tracks in Reaper and set to Record mode so the VU meter is active. Start playing and adjust the output till you get around -18db to -12db gain. In cases where I play leads and need to cut into the mix, I may set one snapshot a little hotter, i.e -6db. Hope this helps.
