Boss DS-1 model in POD Go: too much compression?

Hi all,

I recently bought the Pod Go and quite happy with it. But i've encountered with weird behaviour of "Deez One Vintage" distortion model (Boss DS-1) which I placed in front of US Double Nrm amp model (Fender Twin). It seems that at the moment of string attack a compressor is triggered. It's like "Deez One Vintage" uses a compression pedal inside. What interesting is that only "Deez One Vintage" and may be "Deez One Mod" has that problem. Any other distortion models (Hedgehog D9, Compulsive Drive, etc.) works good. Moreover I've tried a Helix Native plugin and DS-1 inside of it works well without any artificial compression.

Has anyone encountered anything like this?

UPD: May be the reason is in specific of real DS-1 related to one of the gain stages at pedal input. Humbucker pickups which produce hot output is not very pleasant in terms of "overcompression" due to high overdrive of input gain stage before diode-clipping stage. May be Line6 team implemented this feature of real thing in their digital model

Don't own the DS1 but appears you're right;

Comments seem to agree too.

Nice videos. The compression on the Helix that you feel, I feel it too. It is more evident on lower note, especially if you hit the string very hard.

the one from HX has nothing to do with the original seems to have a compressor attached, the Worst simulation I've ever seen of the DS-1

The models should be the same.  Maybe another setting; amp, IR, amp sag, cab, etc., was different and that affected your impression, but to my knowledge, except the newer amps modeling in the Helix, all the effects should be identical between Helix, Stomp, Go, etc.

The good news is that if you love and use the DS1 often, it would be ideal to stick between the guit and the Go; it's very versatile, as in, could use with most patches as distortion or boost (think it does boost decently too?), and not only is it cheap enough so that it doesn't eat into the budget of the Go too much, it even adds to go as it saves a valuable block & DSP.  Plus, unlike other effects, it's ideally placed before the Go.
