RowanMcAlpin
I have an HD500 that I got shortly before the 500X was released. I wish I had waited to get the 500X because of the foot switches on the 500. The foot switches (primarily the front row) have a number of different problems and I never know which one is going to happen. Lights don't turn on. Not a big deal, just a QOL issue. Doesn't register presses. This is a really big deal. As a performing guitarist, I cannot afford to have to press the switch 5+ times during a song to switch my tone. There are three behaviors with this. Sometimes it takes a ton of presses (no less than 5) to trigger the switch. Other times you have to put your entire bodyweight into the switch. Other times it doesn't register it no matter what I do. I have scoured the internet for solutions, and the only ones I could find were stretching the springs, and removing the plastic nibs. Removing the plastic nibs didn't work whatsoever and made it so that none of the switches triggered no matter what. Stretching the springs didn't work very much, it made it take slightly less presses to trigger (still no less than 3-5). Please help! I am experienced with electronics and soldering so if it comes down to replacing the switches I am willing to do that. It sucks that I have such an expensive piece of equipment that has basically become unusable (it worked for around 6 months before these issues started happening). My best guess is that it is something mechanical with the large metal switch mechanism
DolurumMafikala
The contacts might just be dirty. I had similar symptoms and complete success by cleaning the microswitches. Instructions here: HTH, DM
pfsmith0
It was enough for me to open the unit, take out the springs under the buttons, re-stretch the springs and re-install, re-assemble the unit. The switched themselves were just fine.
