Need advice on using CC75-80 to control Helix from NI Keyboard

I'm trying to setup my NI Komplete Kontrol S61 (S1) keyboard to control the Global Knob values on my Helix. I've edited the S61 to send out messages on CC75-80 and confirmed the messages are being correctly generated using a MIDI monitor. What I don't understand is how to get the Helix to 'listen' to the knobs on the S61. The S61 can't direct its output anywhere specific and I can't find anyway to have the Helix use a specific device as input.

From the 3.15 Release Notes

Helix Floor, Helix Rack, Helix LT, HX Effects, HX Stomp, HX Stomp XL

Instead of manually having to assign parameters to incoming MIDI CC messages, Knobs 1-6 for any block on the Home screen (Knobs 1-3 on HX Effects, HX Stomp, or HX Stomp XL) respond to new global MIDI CCs. This turns any programmable MIDI keyboard or tabletop controller into a simple way to edit blocks without having to reach down (for those of you who can't be bothered to use Pedal Edit Mode). In addition, sending Helix/HX a CC74 message will save any changes to the preset. IMPORTANT! We ran out of reserved Global CCs and unfortunately had to steal five user-assignable CCs for this feature. Any parameters you've assigned to CC77-CC81 will have to be remapped. Sorry 'bout that.

By default Helix listens on MIDI CH1.

Check in your MIDI Monitor if the S61 is transmitting on MIDI Ch1.

If YES then all you should need to do is connect the S61 MIDI Out to the Helix MIDI In.

If NO then set Helix Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo>MIDI Base Channel to match or vice versa - set the S61 to transmit on the Helix MIDI Base Channel.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the Channel is set to 1 everywhere. I assume when you say "connect" you mean using an old fashioned 5-pin MIDI cable. Currently all my MIDI is running over USB. I'll have to dig out (find?) an old cable and give that a try.

Or you can enable MIDI Over USB on Helix and use routing SW such as MIDIOX to take the USB Output from the S61 to the Helix. You can also do that with most DAWs. I know I can do that in Reaper. The only time you'd need the 5-pin would be if you're not connected to a computer or other host - you can probably use an iPad to do it for that matter.

Yeah, that works great doing the routing in Cubase. Thanks.
