NC870 Posted January 5, 2024 Share Posted January 5, 2024 I using my Helix LT with a PowerCab 112 plus. I'm trying to get a "smoother", warmer sound out the YJM strat. I realize that the YJM pickups, aren't truly "single coil"... but they react similarly... I'm finding that the hi-gain tones that sound good with my Jackson/JB in bridge.... sounding harsh and brittle with the YJM. I had similar issues even when i was using tube amps with this guitar. I was wondering if anyone had any general rules about using "single coil" pick up guitar with the Helix/PC 112+ Thank you in advance. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
PaulTBaker Posted January 9, 2024 Share Posted January 9, 2024 Don't know much about the YJM strat, however, maybe you could try cutting the highs. Drop the Parametric EQ near the end of the chain and use the High cut. Sometimes I go as low as 4K. AParedes Posted January 13, 2024 Share Posted January 13, 2024 You may want to use different presets for different guitars, especially when switching between SC and HBers. Perhaps use the preset you like with the JB as a starting point, then adjust from there? SC pickups traditionally have more top end than HB, so that would be the starting point for adjustments if you're looking to make these sounds more similar.
