daveaphotopod
Yes, I admit, I worded the title of this post to grab your attention. It's still accurate, however. Let me explain. So, if I connect the POD GO via USB to my computer and choose the audio source in Windows to POD GO, I can listen to YouTube and jam over it, while I am listening to what I am playing in the POD GO too....when I have headphones connected to the POD GO. Cool. Great. So hey, I figure....change the source to my audio interface (RODE AI-1), and connect the headphones to that. Ok, so I play a YouTube video, and it works. Try playing a couple things on the Pod Go.....nothing. Now, I am aware that the POD GO can be an audio interface, but I bring this up because right now the POD GO is on the floor. My AI-1....is not. So am I just out of luck? Can I have the POD GO send any signal through USB to my computer? I almost want to say no, and that it's just for connecting to the POD GO edit....but that's....wrong. I can record something in an audio program if I want. So sound DOES travel through it. What the hell am I missing? haha

Cool. Great. So hey, I figure....change the source to my audio interface (RODE AI-1),….. You can only use one device at a time as the audio source in Windows. Once you change the source (input) device from the POD Go to the RODE you can no longer hear any input from the POD Go, and vice versa. If both devices are connected to your computer via USB then both will continue to send audio to your computer. But your computer is only listening to the one you have specified as the audio input device; audio coming in over USB from the other device is ignored. You could connect the analog audio outputs of the POD Go to the audio inputs of the RODE and you would hear the POD Go output through the RODE headphones. You can hear YouTube videos through the device that is specified as the audio output device. Typically you specify the same device as both for general audio purposes (e.g. listening to YouTube and jamming along). When recording in Windows you must use the same device for both. That’s a constraint of the ASIO protocol. This is true when recording, too. You can specify either your POD Go or your RODE as the program’s audio device, for both input and output. In Windows with ASIO you can’t simultaneously use both. (Caveat: pseudo-ASIO utilities like ASIO4ALL work for some people but in general can cause problems with Line 6 devices and are not supported by Line 6.) Note: HX Edit does not transmit any audio over USB. It communicates with the Helix device using only command and control messages. That’s why you still should be able to use HX Edit while using your RODE as the audio device.
