jstaines33
Hey all, Wondering if it’s possible to change footswitch labels per snapshot on Helix Floor. Unless I’m missing something, it seems strange the parameters can be set to do different things per snapshot but I can’t change the label to correspond to those changes. thanks! silverhead
You can name each Snapshot differently and those names will be displayed as long as your Footswitch settings (Global Settings -> Footswitches includes one of the Snapshots options. jstaines33
Yes but can you rename the foot switches within a snapshot. For instance if I had footswitch 3 sending a midi cc command in snapshot 1 and then the same footswitch sending a different command in snapshot 2, can I change the label of footswitch 3 in the different snapshots? No. If you configure a FS to send a command, it will send that TYPE of command in every Snapshot. It can send VARIATIONS on different Snapshots, but the scribble strip will always have the same name. For example, if you assign a FS to send a MIDI CC1 in SS1, in SS2 that FS could send MIDI CC2, but it can't be configured to send a CC TOGGLE in SS2 without being automatically re-configured to CC TOGGLE in SS1 also. The scribble strip name remains the same in every SS (MIDI CC). If you change the TYPE of message (ex CC TOGGLE), the strip changes to the default name for that TYPE (CC TOGGLE), and as all Snapshots are now set to that TYPE, they all have the same name on the strip. You can change the name in CommandCenter, but that name will apply to ALL Snapshots. Also, if you assign a FS as an effect BYPASS the Strip will show the name of the effect. If you then assign it a function in CommandCenter it will say MULTIPLE. It can be renamed in CommandCenter to again show the effect name (ex Minotaur) OR the Command name (ex MIDI CC) OR a custom combination (Minotaur-MIDI CC), but that name will remain the same in ALL snapshots. rd2rk
OK, there's at least one exception to what I stated above. If the FS is a SNAPSHOT Command. Ex - in SS1 FS1 goes to SS2. The Strip in SS1 reads SS2. If in SS2 it goes to SS1, the Strip in SS2 will read SS1. This is default behavior and not customizable. Interesting (I just discovered) drive-you-mad note - in the above configuration, if the FS is also assigned as an effect BYPASS, the first tap reverses the saved BYPASS status of the effect, the second tap changes Snapshot. If, in SS1 the effect is OFF and you tap it ON, it will be OFF when you tap again to get to SS2, where it will be OFF EVEN IF IT IS SAVED ON IN THAT SS! IOW - if you're using a FS to toggle Snapshots, you probably don't want to also have it toggling an FX BYPASS unless you totally understand what's going to happen each time you hit that switch! The upside(?) is that you can change the Strip to the effect name in "Bypass/Controller Assign". Then, when you come back to that preset in 6 months you can lose your mind trying to figure out why it changes Snapshots every other time you toggle the effect! jstaines33
Ah yes. So I was trying to move to Snapshots because you can set it to save the last state of the footswitch when switching between ss. My effects bypass are triggered via mid (midi thru on looper) so will remain in the last state as well as midi triggers for the looper on ss 2. Convoluted but works ok except for the labels. Gonna be sad when I have to PTouch labels under the beautiful scribble strips. I want Helix to do everything but always run into it doing just short of everything haha
jstaines33
I think what I really want is just a floating midi command page (stomp/midi) where I can have a set of midi switches without changing presets or snapshots
