Customize Midi Program Change for HX Stomp XL Preset

Hi! I am trying to Customize the specific MIDI Program Change command that is sent when accessing a specific preset. Example, I have an external drive pedal with 18 preset slots, and I want to be able to freely assign ANY one of those 18 settings to ANY one of my HX Stomp Presets.

The default setting in the HX Stomp is to send a Program Change command for the exact corresponding number of the preset, ie. when going to preset 1C (or 3), HX Stomp sends a Program Change command with the value 3. I learned that there is a way to Deactivate this automatic command using the Global settings, but is there a way to customize it instead? I would love to be able to automatically map any of my drive settings to my Stomp presets without having to first assign one of my Footswitches in Command Center and then having to hit that footswitch after accessing the preset.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure what you mean by "automatically map" a custom setting?

Here's how it's done to accomplish what I think you're trying to do:

After setting "MIDI PC Tx" to OFF in Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo, go to your Preset, open CommandCenter and set an InstantCommand (the lightning bolts) to send the desired PC# on the desired MIDI Channel (the channel your effect is set to RECEIVE on).

Anything assigned to an "InstantCommand" (IC) is automatically sent when the preset loads.

Thus, no extra switch involved.

You can combine InstantCommands with Snapshots (SS#).

For instance, suppose when you load the preset you want your effect's slot #3 to load (SS1).

In SS1 you set IC1 to send PC#3.

PC#3 is sent when the preset (SAVED on SS1) is loaded.

In SS2 you want to load your effect's Slot #7.

In SS2 you set IC1 to send PC#7.

PC#7 is sent when you select SS2.

NOTE: In Global Settings>Preferences there's a setting called "Snapshot Edits".

When set to RECALL you do not have to save the preset between Snapshot Edits.

For instance, you can change the IC setting in all snapshots and simply SAVE the preset when done.

If set to DISCARD you have to SAVE the preset BEFORE editing the next Snapshot or your edits will be lost.

Life-saver!!  I got this to work.

Weirdly, it seems like my drive pedal (TC Nova Drive) is 1-indexed, but the HX Stomp Program Change commands are 0-indexed... ie. I need to send PC#6 in order to change my drive pedal to program 7. This isn't a huge deal at all, but it's a bit wonky.

Thanks so much for the clarification here on the Instant commands!
