mozogenesis63
Good afternoon all, Question, before I put my old pod x3 pro rackmount in the bin. It has suddenly become unusable. On turning on and switching programmes all I get is an excruciating screeching sound, from headphones and line outputs. High clip signal occasionally also on front gtr input even without a guitar plugged in. Then, sometimes all goes quiet and there is no noise at all. Does anyone have any clues as to where I should look before leaving it out for the binmen please? Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks all. mozogenesis63
Thanks for the views, friends. Clearly this unit is done for. To the binmen on Monday it is. Shame.
silverhead
Before giving up completely it might be worth raising a support ticket, or contact your nearest Line 6 service centre and see what it would cost to at least get a preliminary diagnosis and cost estimate if any repair is available. mozogenesis63
Thank you Silverhead, You are correct of course. I will give it a go. I am just fed-up with it suddenly failing, so a bit despondent. thank you
silverhead
Of course every electronic device eventually fails, often suddenly. My personal habit is: before shutting the power off back up anything new you did and want to keep. Expect that someday, maybe tomorrow, it won't turn back on. Your X3 Pro is likely about 15 years old. Not bad for this type of device, actually. Good luck with it.
mozogenesis63
Thank you. I had grown to trust this kit but it is old and all things come to end I suppose. The funny thing is, I am cautious elsewhere and even record on Reel to Reel still as it has never let me down and mostly mechanical kit. I tried using a DAW in the very early days but got annoyed by latency. Yes, I am old. Stories from those who record using DAW and lose work or are unable to recover work fill me with dread. Maybe one day. maybe not. Thanks again.
mozogenesis63
A bit more research suggests SDRAM failure (found in safe mode), so it looks like it is the bin for this unit.
