eagereyes
I just got an HX Stomp, but I'm having an odd noise issue with it. I'm running a HydraSynth into it, and there's a weird digital-sounding, scratchy noise, even when the pedal is bypassed. I made a brief recording of it, which you can find here (I tried to attach it, but that doesn't seem to work). I made this straight from the pedal over USB. The signal path is Hydra into the HX Stomp, output into my monitors. I've disconnected the USB cable to see if that's causing the issue, but there is no difference. The synth output is perfectly clean, I tested it by running it into a Teenage Engineering TX-6 (which also means it went from its balanced output into an unbalanced input, just like on the Stomp, so that's not the issue either). Running the synth straight into my monitors also works just fine, no noise issues. When I turn off the pedal, the noise goes away (which is to be expected, I guess). What's really weird to me is that I get this noise even when the pedal is bypassed (using the analog bypass option). I guess the signal still passes through the volume control at least, though. The pedal is brand new, and I've updated it to 3.71. Any idea what could be causing this? eagereyes
So I think I figured out my issue. I had not actually bypassed the pedal, just an individual block… and at the same time, there appears to be some clipping happening even though my input signal is not clipping. When I start with an init patch and just insert a reverb, it all sounds fine. I'll need to test this a bit more, but this is giving me a lot more confidence than my initial experience last night :)
Schmalle
Unfortunately the clip is not available using the link in the OP. To reduce the risk of overdriving HX's input with your synth set Global Settings -> INs/Outs -> Input Level to Line. It makes sense to set all levels to Line while you're at it.
