I bought an HX Stomp to use primarily as an FX box thru a traditional tube amp. . . BUT . . . most of my gigs these days are an acoustic trio.  The Stomp works great here too because it can load IR's that really improve the tone of acoustics.  The POD Express would be cooler still due its portability and battery power.  But it has no IR loading capability.  It would be nice to add that OR create an additional "Amp" or "FX" group containing L6 designed acoustic "sweeteners" algong the line that Baggs and Fishman are putting in their outboard pedals.  You could sell a ton of them to acoustic players.

I have a powercab and can put the acoustic IRs on there Im thinking. I plan on getting a POD Xpress and have already tried the IR thing in the PC+ so I should be able to use the express as just FX.

I tried it out and it works great. I have the Powecab+ and loaded some acoustic IRs into it. I even found some mandolin IRs for it. I went from my Grace Felix out of the insert and then into the POD Express and then back into the grace into the Powercab. it works like a charm. For small gigs it is perfect. Everything fits onto the powercab. I was able to use the POD Express Edit and tweak the verb/delay and then have some simple but useful presets. I downloaded the editor for my Android phone but the realized that it needs a USB->USB cable as it is not bluetooth. Not that I will need to do it much, but it could be nice to be able to fine tune the FX at gigs. It is nice to have a pocket sized FX box.
