WalllaceOurense
Hi, there!!! Does anybody know any program//app similar to Riffworks nowadays?
silverhead
The silence speaks volumes. I don’t know of anything current using that model of song building for audio. It reminded me of MIDI sequences commonly used in keyboards but applied to audio mostly for guitarists. I used to find it useful for sketching out song ideas, or for practicing solos over a background loop. I think it has been superseded by DAW technology and simple plugins today. Even the most basic DAW supports loops, usually with recording punch-in and punch-out including multiple layered takes, and there are plenty of simple, free drum plugins to provide the same features of RiffWorks and much more. The only other thing that Riffworks offered was the sequencing aspect allowing a building block approach. Copy and Paste in a DAW using multiple audio tracks simultaneously accomplishes the same thing within seconds. I don’t see a business model for a standalone product like RiffWorks today. Robert1969
Not that I could find. I was really hoping for a 64 bit Riffworks that could handle the current gen of usb interfaces, but alas... Have no idea why they stopped support Riffworks the way they did. Makes zero sense to me.

Line 6’s primary business is guitar amp and FX modeling. Their business relationship with RiffWorks was a sideline that they wisely (imho) dropped. As I outlined above there’s nothing that RiffWorks could do that your basic DAW can’t, except for its restrictive looping conceptual model. You can easily recreate that recording style and method in the most basic DAW if you want to. It’s essentially copying and pasting recorded song segments. And you won’t have to abandon the ability to re-amp signals using plugins, or integrate MIDI tracks (neither of which I think RiffWorks ever supported). The free Cakewalk by Bandlab DAW blows RiffWorks away. As do pretty much all others. If you haven’t tried regular DAWs yet do yourself a favour and spend some time learning their basics.
