4 cable

Please provide more details about your cabling and Helix preset routing. 4CM users can easily think they have the cabling correct when in fact they don’t. Also the Helix preset has to be properly configured for 4CM. Ideally attach a copy of a preset that doesn’t sound good when you toggle the amp off.

I hooked up my Helix LT using 4 cable method preset setting and it works well with my amp but if i toggle off my amp to use a amp model its awful.

Any help is appreciated

What exactly do you mean by toggle off your amp? What you want to do is to disable the send/return block(s) if you're going to bypass your amp's preamp so the output of your LT going directly into the return of your amp if you're not doing this already. You can leave the 4 cables connected and do this either in a separate preset or in snapshots in a single preset.  I have a picture here of a really simple preset I was working on. In one snapshot I have the Helix amp block enabled while the send and return blocks are disabled. In another snapshot I disable the amp block and enable the send/returns so the real amp is the pre and the power amp of the preset. Does this help?

Im getting further confused as i set up 4cm per the line 6 tutorial.

It said go under presets and select 4cm which i did and ran cables as they instructed.

the tutorial then said if you want to use an amp model instead of your amp push the A switch and select an amp model.

Thats what i meant by toggle

I’m guessing here but it sounds like you might be using an amp+cab block in your Helix preset instead of just an amp or preamp block. The difference is the presence of a cab model. When using 4CM you are always using the speaker/cab of your physical amp. That means your Helix preset should not use a cab model. Using a cab model and then going through a physical cab generally does sound awful.
