djspleen
I've searched for this topic and couldn't find it, but hopefully I'm not the only one that's experienced this. When I use the Variax cable and the Variax input on my HD500X the tuner doesn't recognize it, so I currently do not have tuner capabilities from the unit. I'm assuming there's simply a setting on the Pod that needs to be set to "Variax" but I don't know about it yet since I'm still a Variax noob (about a month now). Anything that I fiddled with didn't change the status of the tuner when using the Variax. Any guidance? Thanks. Dean J.
psarkissian
Should be as straight forward as holding down the Tap button on the 500X to put it into tune mode, then push Tap again to take it out of tune mode.
djspleen
I don't know what was going on before or what changed now, but tonight is the first time it worked properly. I was at band rehearsal earlier this week and it did NOT work, and every time I've tried it before tonight since I purchased it a few weeks ago it did not work. I have no clue what's different now, but hey, I'll take it (as long as it keeps working). I guess issue can be marked "SOLVED", for now, anyway. The tuner included in the POD only recognizes the signal passing through input1 (so it never recognizes the signal passing through input2). So, for the tuner to actually work, in the preset input settings you need to make sure that input1 is set to (or includes in the case of multiple source selection) the source currently used (in this case "Variax"). My hypothesis therefore is that when you tried to use the POD tuner you were using a preset with the inputs set as input1=guitar/input2=variax, that's why the tuner didn't work (with the Variax), mystery solved if I guessed right. Whoever created/edited that preset wasn't using a Variax and set input2 to Variax (by default input2 would be set to Same) as Null source just to halve the input signal level in the chain. If you like that preset I recommend you reverse its inputs selection to keep the same gain level and have effective use of the tuner. Doing so, your effective source for input1 would be Variax and your Null source for input2 would be Guitar. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ All about POD HD500/X help and useful tips
djspleen
Thanks hurghanico. That makes sense and I'll make note of the input settings.
