txflood
I have an original Cat 60 that has the CX upgrade installed. I wanted to do some comparisons between amp models while playing so I decided to try to take advantage of the new footswitch functionality that the upgrade provided. I have set FS1 to Preset Bank Up and FS2 to Channel A/B Select. The switches work as advertised and allow me to quickly switch between banks and channels. The issue that I am seeing though is that when I power the Catalyst off and turn it back on again later, the bank increments and changes. For example if I have the amp on bank 1 when I turn it off, the next time I power it back on again it automatically moves to bank 2 even though I didn't touch anything other than the power switch. I also for debugging purposes tried the reverse where I made FS1 the A/B select and FS2 the bank up. It still gives me the same result when powering off and back on again. Has anyone else tried the Preset Bank Up footswitch setting and seen any problems like this?
rd2rk
I hooked up the FS to test this (I normally use MIDI) and I can confirm that this happens. Setting the FS to MOMENTARY does not change this behavior, it just causes the A/B function to require two taps. Open a support ticket. txflood
Thanks for testing and confirming. I have opened a ticket with support.
txflood
The bank switch also happens with the footswitches set as described above and then put the amp into tuner mode and back out again.
rd2rk
Have you heard back from support?
txflood
I thought I would share the answer I got back with my support ticket: Quote Because the LFS2 is a latching switch, it will behave differently with one of the options is set to "Preset Up". If footswitch is turned to the "ON" position, it will switch banks on boot up since its stuck in the "ON" position. This isn't considered a bug, its just different behaviors of the Latching and Momentary footswitch options. I have to tell you that we can only support with official LFS2 footswitch, because the momentary switch would be behave differently. If you really need that feature, you can try it out. Some of these global settings features were introduced later on after the amp was already in production, so I don't think it will be "fixed" since its based on preference. I haven't bothered to try to hook up a momentary switch to see if that does indeed fix the problem or not. My workaround after turning the amp on is to just click the footswitch multiple times to get back to the bank that I really want to use and then go from there. If the problem only happened on startup that's not too bad, but unfortunately using the tuner causes the unwanted bank switch to happen yet again which can get annoying. rd2rk
Hmmm... I interpret that response to mean that the LFS2, if the Bank Switch is ON (LED lit) on shutdown, it will switch Banks when rebooted. That implies (to me) that if the switch is OFF (LED NOT lit) that it WOULD NOT switch Banks on reboot. But it switches Banks regardless of the ON/OFF status on shutdown. Did I mention that I use MIDI for Bank/Channel switching? And all other MIDI controllable functions. Tuner does not cause Bank change when using MIDI without the FS connected.
