jayfast
Hi there, I've got a Helix with a very old firmware version (2.30.00) which I want to update. With the current version of HX edit I always get the error of "No device connected". Also current driver's seem to be too new. I tried older versions, but there too neither the Line 6 updater nor HX Edit would connect to my device. I think it seems to be a driver problem. I tried different USB ports, different cables, different computers... Could anyone please help me? Thank you very much.
silverhead
Here's a comment in the v3.80 HX Edit release notes: My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.80? Yes, but note that if you're starting from 2.80 or lower, the update may appear to happen three times and will take notably longer than 30 minutes. This is normal. Have you attempted performing the update by following the procedures listed in these Release Notes? If not, begin there.
waymda
If HX Edit is refusing to see the Helix try Helix Line 6 Central and/or Line 6 Updater. The latest update failed for me (first in a very very long time) and HX Edit could not see the Helix. Line 6 Updater worked fine - noting no ability to create a back-up and restore presets.
jayfast
Thank you for your replies. I installed an older driver (1.9.1) and now in the device manager the Helix is recognized as a soundcard. I can also with headphones hear sound through the helix. But neither Line 6 Updater nor HX Edit sees the device. @silverhead : Yes, I've tried with the newest HX Edit version as described. But with the version Windows does not recognize the helix at all. Thanks for further advice.
jayfast
I got it! The key was Line 6 Central which regocnized it (where neither Updater nor HX Edit dit) - thanks @waymda! In case, anyone else's got this problem - this worked for: 1. Uninstall all Line 6 software and drivers. 2. Install an older driver (1.9.1 worked for me). Check if your device is listed as a soundcard in the device manager. 3. Update with Line 6 Central. Thanks again!

Thanks again! Updating your Helix from such an old firmware version can be challenging.
