ltwhite
So I had been kind of driving myself crazy trying to find a "power" issue when using my Helix as a multieffects and running Left 1/4" out into the Dream 65 > straight into my interface; and the Right 1/4" goes to my amp in a closet, which usually stays turned off and unused these days. I thought it was the power supply, tried a different one with the same Helix > 65 and nothing changed. What was really throwing me for a loop was when a friend came over and plugged right into the Dream 65, absolutely no power issue sound or hum at all; then when I'd go to use it with my setup it'd have an artifacty/power hum kind of thing going. So then I tried direct just into the Dream 65, no noise or hum at all, great. Then I tried unplugging the other 1/4" cable from the Helix that goes to my amp in the closet, and the noise went down at least 10dB if not closer to 20, at least halved if not 25% as loud. Has anyone else encountered this issue when using a Helix with a Dream 65 or other UAFX pedals? I'm sure not many on here are using both a Helix and UA amp pedals like I am, but I am hoping maybe someone else is. I'm wondering if there's something going on in the Helix or if others have experienced, maybe it's just one of those cases where these two products just don't play well with each other. rd2rk
Try using a separate SEND to your amp vs using the Main Outs for both. Then you can simply turn it OFF when not using the amp. Use the L/Mono Out to the Dream. Why aren't you using 4cm with the Dream so you can have Pre and Post FX?
Schmalle
It's a ground loop issue. A ground loop is a wiring issue that occurs when multiple devices share multiple paths to ground which can cause unwanted noises, such as buzzing or humming. By plugging into the amp you introduce another path to ground.
