Patch volumes (and increasing and balancing volume)

Hi community!

I have a few questions about output volume:

Some patches are much quieter than others, even when I set the channel volume to 10. What would you recommend? Should I lower the other sounds? My concern is that during concerts, my guitar track will be weak compared to the other tracks (because I will have lowered the volume too much on the different tones). Also, what volume would you recommend for the main volume (knob on the pedalboard): 1/4, 1/2, 3/4?

Also, how do you balance the volumes between your different tones/patches? Do you have an effective technique, or do you simply do it by hand, comparing the volumes of the different tones?

Many thanks in advance for your valuable answers!

This topic has been covered many, many times previously in this forum - dig around and stuff will turn up.
