Lots of computer noise when running Native. Please help!

Hi.  When I run Helix Native, I'm getting a lot of noise (that's kind of a static sound).  This is especially true when running patches with high gain.  The noise is in time with the power light flickering on my computer.  It will even do it if I have no guitar plugged into the system.

I considered getting a new computer, but from everything I've read, it sounds like my current system should be more than able to handle Helix Native without any problem.  Here's what I've got:

Processor    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4790K CPU @ 4.00GHz   4.00 GHz
Installed RAM    16.0 GB
Storage    1.82 TB HDD TOSHIBA DT01ACA200, 699 GB HDD Hitachi HTS547575A9E384, 932 GB SSD Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB
Graphics Card    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti (2 GB)
System Type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

I believe it's a quad core.

For my sound interface, I'm using a Steinberg UR22.  I don't know if it matters, but I've tried two different DAWs, including Mixcraft and Cakewalk.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Uninstall/reinstall drivers.

Optimize the computer for audio - google it!

Try a new usb cable.

Make sure that phantom power is off.

If you're connecting to the interface by wireless, use a cable.

If you're using a desktop pc, try a backside usb port.

If you're using a laptop, try a port on the opposite side of the laptop.

Try disconnecting any other usb devices.

Unplug the laptop and run on batteries.

Borrow a friend's traditionally powered (not bus powered) interface.

Make sure that you're at least 10-15 feet from microwaves, routers, cell phones or other wireless devices.

Use a wall circuit that does not have fluorescents, rheostats, microwaves a/c or other motorized appliances.

Make sure that you're connected to an emi/rfi filtered surge strip.

If all else fails you can try voodoo...

Hi,

I agree totally with the suggestions given by @rd2rk in the post above - BUT why is the power light on your computer flickering?

Surely, the power ON indicator light should be a solid, stable display. To my mind that would appear to be a symptom of a bad connection somewhere, and possibly the cause of the audio interference that you mention.

Hope this helps/makes sense

Thanks for your suggestions.  I will try them this week, and I'll let you know the results.  I also purchased a USB ground loop eliminator to see if that helps.  That should arrive in a few days.  As far as the blinking light goes, I think the flickering just shows that the computer's HDD is being assessed.

I've mostly found those USB Ground Loop Eliminators to be a useless waste of money, but who knows?

If the LED in question is just the HDD indicator, that should have no effect on the noise you're experiencing, but again, who knows?

Computers are, after all, based on MAGIC, and only Great Wizards truly understand that - maybe.
