Dear ladies and sirs
Wednesday last week I reported this issue. Now we (mostly me) are poking around this issue stupidly. Support insists on "This is am unknown issue.". Very helpful. I consider this as clueless nonsense as someone has made this device and its representatiom. I tried every USB-port, did an install/uninstall circle four or five times and even build a new Wim10-machine from my device vaults but this shows the same issue as my actual Win11-machine.

I am a line6 customer over 20 years but now I am really scared ny this obvious quality isuue and the ignotance or shiftlessness of the European support.

Dear ladies and sirs

I don't mean to sound too ignorant, you said you tried every USB port.  I've only been able to get the Stadium to properly connect using the USB-C from the computer to the USB-C to the Stadium connection.  Have you been able to produce this using the USB-A cable?

Thanks for trying to help.
You don't sound ignoramt.
Thing is: The standard drivers for midi and audio just work as the asio driver does.
Communication with wifi even works. So it's unlikely my usb ports are the cilprit.

But in Line6 Central and and Line6 Audio-Midi Device Control (System Control ) is nothing present. They're empty.

I cannot ignore this issue as Line6 decided to make firmwase updafes on USB. That will not work here because

Line6 Central does nothing and Helix Sradium App crashes immediately connecting to usb.

Thanks for clarifying.  I uninstalled Line 6 Central.  I then uninstalled everything Line 6 and started installing only the Stadium App first then the driver.  The USB-C is currently only for manual firmware updates and not to be used in the App, even though I saw it show up as well.  In fact, I read in the manual I have to disable Wi-Fi on the Stadium if I want to use the USB to upgrade via the procedure in the manual for this very process.  I am still reading the manual taking very small steps as I read.

As a caveat, I do use the USC-C for my DAW interface using Helix Native as well as audio playback if I want to match my guitar tones in the presets I create against audio file playbacks, if that makes sense.

Yeah I tried this too several times, even with mining through the registry for any lime6 / halion remnants.

But don't or didn't you have this" Helix Stadium Bulk Transfer" thing in your device manager?
If not how the Stadium is presend in your device nabager?

Here is a very deep dive on my part.  I like to give as complete as possible answers even if they may be more than required.

I have several instances in the Device Manager.

The digital audio Interface and Speakers In Audio I/O

image.png

I have the Line 6 instance

image.png

I also have one instance in Sound Video & game controllers as itself

image.png

I also have a third HID Keyboard device when attached

(screenshot w/ Stadium attached; w/o Stadium attached

image.pngimage.png.f06bed93d93fb08bd8b280ab5a13980b.png

Here is a screenshot under Software Devices within Device manager

image.png

It is an additional (third in my case) USB composite device

with stadium                                                                                w/o stadium

image.pngimage.png.1eb68e69d58e4134948f4e1f091afcbb.png

I have looked in many other areas within Device Manager and do not see any other instances.

And I can disconnect it via the USB manager within the USB device eject function

I hope this is useful information for you.  If nothing else you can refer the support team for your issue to this thread if needed.

Thank you so much for your effort showing all this.

All the USB stuff you showed is missing but these shown below and the scary "Helix Stadium Bulk Transfer"
(BTW: How did you insert the pictures in your post?)
In Line6 Cebtral I see only my old HD500 licenses and in Windows Control Center -> Line 6 Audio-Midi Devices abdolutely nothing

Anyway: I called my dealer and he recommended to return the device. Thing is: I can get a new one at the earlies beginnin of 2026.
What a torture

ReverendLove,

Again, I will be fairly detailed even if you already know much of this;

First, are you running Windows 11 & are you familiar with the "dism" and "sfc" command prompt utility commands?  Let me know before you attempt step 6.  For those not familiar, the commands aren't really that scary.  In fact I run these often on my system to keep the operating system running well.

Also, I just use the copy and past via a screen capture program of your choice.  I use Greenshot (a freeware program) for my screen captures and capture to clipboard then Ctrl+V (windows paste hot-key command) at the area in the message I want it to be in or at.

Before you return it you can try this.  And here is what I did on my computer once I sold my Helix Floor and the helix Stadium arrived.

1. Uninstall all Line 6 products EXCEPT Line 6 Helix Native.  I did keep Line 6 Helix Native.  And I did the uninstall via the Windows 11 Gear (settings) ->Apps -> Installed Apps.

              a.  I uninstalled Helix stuff, Helix Stadium stuff, all current and older drivers, etc.  I even uninstalled Line 6 Central

2. Go into the old windows "Control Panel" which you can do by typing the word control in the search window -> Programs and Features

              a. Uninstall everything Line 6 that is an uninstaller EXCEPT the Line 6 Helix Native Uninstaller

              b. Based upon what you had you may have several versions of the Line 6 Driver uninstall programs.  And once you start you may

get a message that is telling you the driver uninstaller can't be found.  Just click to have it removed from the control panel

3. Reboot computer

4. Make sure you have the very latest Windows updates (I know this may be painful)

5. After your windows is updated and rebooted, please shutdown and do a cold startup

6. Next are the computer Windows 11 (also 10 but I'm aware Microsoft isn't supporting anything below 11 so if your computer is not Windows 11 go to 7.)

You must open a command prompt (via search if not pinned to your taskbar like me), run as administrator on the system then run the following

                   commands in this order

image.png

              a.  dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth (this checks your system for any issues and if not found go to c. other wise go to b.)

              b.  dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (this could take an hour or so ... it normally appears to choke at 53% to 64%

but it should be done in about an hour or so.  You can tap the enter key a few times)

              c. sfc /verifyonly (this checks driver status and if errors found go to d. otherwise proceed to 7.)

              d. sfc /scannow

7.  Oh yea, make sure you register your Helix Stadium if you haven't already, on the Line 6 site once you log back into the site.

8. Install the Helix Stadium app before installing any other Line 6 product

9. Install the Helix Stadium Driver

10. Plug in Helix Stadium using USB-C to USB-C cable nothing else and check again in Device Manager

Let me know if this helps or if you'd like further information.  And, again, you can bypass step 6.  It is just that I find this helps out many things in the Windows operating system.

And here is the best YouTube guru I've found for this process I've outlined in step 6 before you do anything.  Please watch first if you haven't already

Yes, I am familiar with those sfc / dism commands. But they did not help.
As I mentioned in my opener shortly I build a "new" PC from my hardware vaults and installed a virgim WIN10 22H2.
It has attached no devices but keyboard, mouse and monitor. This PC has exactly the same issues as the Win11 machine whem I install the Jelix Stadium hard- and soffware.

I guess Helix Stadium is missing a fimal step of ptoduction here and it is not really broken.

I'm here again.
I sent the mentioned unit back to my dealer and some days later I got a new one.

Before I connected it to my PC I deleted everything related to Line 6 amd reboot.
I installed the Helix Stadium applicatiom (1.2) and let is install all three items.
Switched the PO off.
Connected the Stadium to my WLAN and did an update. It was on 1.0 and aften on 1.2.
So far so good.
Then I connected it to my PC and switched it off,

Switched on the PC and when it was ewady I started the Stadium.
Tasaaa! This bastard "Helix Sradium Bulk Transfer" was there again in other (unknown) devices.
Before I decided to throw all rhese annoying machines through the closed window I tried the following:
I did a completely new install of windows 11 on the PC and attached omly keyboard, mouse monitor and LAN.
Everything else was pulled out. Then I installed the Helix app and reboot.
Pushed in the Stadium and there it is there again:  "Helix Sradium Bulk Transfer" in other (unknown) devices.

Sane thing on my other PC (Win 10)

I am wondering what they may have in common what can caus this issue - completely different machines...

I'm getting very tired.

Happy XMas rverybody!

First of all: Happy new year dear comrades

Just being curious I grabbed my nearly 20 year old laptop with Win 7.
I Installed the Helix Stadium app, I didn't exprct this to work. But it installed the app amd the drivers.
Helix Sradium reports on the USB bus the same stupid devive "Helix SradiumBulk Transfer".
So I have the same issue on four completely different installations on three fundamental different devices.
Windows only reports names connected devices send to it. It does not invents them.

Something is basically wrong with the units sent to me or with the line 6 usb driver "L6WinUsb.inf"
The Stadium driver "l6Stadium.inf" works fine as expected.

I am fighrtng with the support since end of November and went no step further.
My patience is wabing...

Now I'm waiting for a respomse from support since Monday last week on my report which proves that rhe problem is caused by the Stadium or its driver.
Lools like if you've a problem they can't blame on you you're lost.

Even  the  last update (1.2.1)changed nothing. This severe bug still exists.
I abalyzed the regarfing inf file (L6WinUsb.inf) for the usb control driver.
This thing hasn't been chabged since 07.07.2025,
I even did not get any replies to my submissions in my "support" ticket since 29th of December.
C'mob folks - this is simply pathetic.

As you know, I had the same issue trying to get from firmware 1.1 to 1.2 using USB-C on Windows but ... I worked around it.

Unplug the USB-C cable. Disable automatic time synchronization on the Stadium and set the time manually. This clears the blank QR code issue and lets you log into a Line 6 account over Wi-Fi from the Stadium itself.

If the Stadium does not then detect the existence of new firmware and let you download it over W-Fi and apply it, you will need to:

Borrow a friend or colleague's MacBook, load Stadium App on it, connect via USB-C to the Stadium and update from firmware 1.1. to 1.2 the 'Apple' way since the Windows USB driver is broken.

If you can get your Stadium to firmware 1.2 the 'Apple' way, the good news for you (as an Apple 'hater') is that you no longer need the MacBook and USB-C cable connection going forward (or even a Windows and USB-C connection, for that matter).

From a Stadium on firmware 1.2, I was then able to:

1. Update to firmware 1.2.1 over Wi-FI from the Stadium itself (No USB-C connection)

2. With Windows machine and Stadium connected to the same Wi-Fi network, connect Windows Stadium App to the Stadium over Wi-Fi (No USB-C connection) for remote control.

3. Transfer audio files to the Stadium over Wi-Fi using the Windows Stadium App (No USB-C connection)

The Windows USB driver issue for the Stadium app has yet to be acknowledged let alone fixed, so work around it as I explained until it does get fixed. As far as I can see, that's your only option.

Regards,

Mytsic368

Thank you a lot. I know this workaround. But it is still a workaround.
BTW: I had no issues updating the ftrmware via wifi and did not have the "n0 QR code" issue.
I just want a working usb driver. But this seems to be not possible until now.
At this point I cannot rely 100% on the Stadium.

Hello,

Wait. I'm a little confused. If you can do firmware updates over Wi-Fi, if you can connect the Stadium app on your Windows machine to the Stadium XL via Wi-FI for remote control, and if you can transfer audio files via Wi-Fi to the Stadium XL, how are you currently negatively affected by a non-working Windows USB driver?  What is a non-working Windows USB-C cable connection preventing you from doing?

That's not to say Line 6 shouldn't be addressing it, of course, but I'm just wondering what you cannot do over a Wi-Fi connection that requires a USB-C cabled connection.

I suspect it would be unwise for any working musician to rely 100% on the Stadium XL at present but bugs in general are being resolved quite quickly. I'm just an at-home hobbyist, so there is no urgency from a personal perspective. I can certainly understand the frustration of working musicians trying to use it as a tool to make a living with, though. If you fall into that category, I can certainly empathize.

Mystic368,

It is the "other devices" "Andere Gerate" the OP's first post and the subsequent comparisons for device drivers between his system and mine that we both posted in this thread.  Now I am just speculating, but ...

Sometimes different character sets aren't or can't addressed by programmers.  This is similar to the cyrillic vs non-cyrillic issue for some driver set programming.  In the case of the German language "Andere Gerate" in English could be translated as other devices, or unknown devices, or other equipment, or unknown equipment, or other instruments, etc.  It is just frustrating not to see the line 6 stadium device driver accurately and it can have an adverse affect upon the operating system as well.

ReverendLove can better clarify on his frustration and what the device driver isn't allowing.

I'm not a developer, but I have worked in I.T. for a long time and I knock out the odd automation script now and again. It cannot be a language localization issue with the driver installer with respect to German since I (as a U.S. user) also have a non-working Windows USB driver that presents as 'other device ' in Windows which repeatedly crashes the Stadium App on a Windows PC that is USB-C cabled to the Stadium. If you look at the installation log for the Stadium App on a Windows PC, you can see the Line 6 Windows USB driver has a dependency on a generic USB device driver library that is quite old. It could be a misconfiguration of the Line 6 Windows USB driver .inf file, the Line 6 Windows USB .sys driver itself, or the USB device driver library that the Line 6 .sys driver relies on. That's for Line 6 to figure out via a trouble ticket. I submitted one as did user ReverendLove, I believe.

As an aside, this thread has over 800 views. It's rather disappointing to see not a single Windows user has posted to say they had issues (or not) with the Stadium App on a Windows PC repeatedly crashing with a USB-C cabled connection. That was my Zero Day out-of-the box experience with the Stadium XL on firmware 1.1.

I only tried the USB-C route on Zero Day because Stadium XL Wi-Fi would connect but not allow firmware download. I worked around both issues by using the Stadium App on a MacBook and a USB-C cable to get to firmware 1.2. After that, a helpful user here posted the fix for Line 6 account login not working from Stadium XL Wi-Fi

Since then, there is nothing I need to do with the Stadium that cannot be done from the Stadium App (on Windows) with both the Windows PC and the Stadium XL connected to the same Wi-Fi network.  I did a firmware fetch and update to 1.2.1, I can remotely control the Stadium XL from the Stadium App and I can transfer Showcase audio files to the Stadium XL via Wi-Fi from the Stadium App. All using Windows.

As it happens, I decided to buy a MacBook (my first MacOS machine) before I was able to get the Stadium XL to firmware update over Wi-Fi. Do I need The MacBook now for the Stadium XL? No. Am I keeping it? Yes. The refusal of Windows 11 to respect my preference to NOT group files in my downloads folder by 'date modified' as in "Yesterday," "Last week" "A Long Time Ago" was pi^^ing me off. I would set 'Sort -> Group by -> None' , to eliminate that 'feature', leave the folder, and return to the folder to find Microsoft has 'helpfully' reset my preference to "Sort -> Group by -> Date Modified" so I'm back to that "Yesterday", "Last Week" "A long Time Ago" view of my Downloads folder again. It is totally disrespectful to override a user's preference settings like that. That was the last straw for me with Windows at home. Also, Apple silicon is far better than Intel/AMD laptop silicon and has been for a while. I daresay some Apple users will have had their frustrations with Mac that drove them to Windows. Each to his or her own.

In the meantime, it would be helpful to user ReverendLove (at least) if a few lurkers of this thread could post their experience of USB-C cable connecting their Windows machines to the Stadium XL. Does the Stadium App crash repeatedly for them when USB-C cable connected? If not, how does the Stadium USB driver (not the ASIO driver which is a separate thing that DOES work on Windows) appear in Windows Device Manager?

I suspect most Windows users are now using Wi-Fi to connect with the Stadium XL which, as a connection type, is working for all purposes (remote control, firmware update, and file transfer) so they don't care sufficiently about the non-working USB-C cable connection to bother posting about the broken Line 6 Windows USB driver installation.

Regards,
