Dufrense
Greetings! I have an issue with my Helix Stadium XL. I use it to record into Fender Studio Pro 8 (also tried this in Bandlab). I create a audiotrack in Studio Pro 8 and set it up to use USB 7 as input, but there is no signal at all. Using USB 1/2 works just fine, but switching to 7 or 8 there is absolutely no input to the track. On the Helix I have checked the settings and USB 7 is setup for re-amping for instrument 1 (also checked my patch and instrument 1 is the input to the patch) and USB 8 is setup for mic. This should work, but there is absolutly no signal. Patch output is Matrix 1/4, XLR and Phones. As already mentioned I tried this in Bandlab as well with no luck. I used this feature frequently on my old Helix Floor with zero issues. Any tips on this issue? I Googled it, but it does not seem to be a widespread issue. Any help most appriciated! Best Regards /Dufrense
silverhead
This is a known bug that I encountered using Sonar (post Bandlab - free version) and reported. It also affects USB 3/4 and 5/6. It will be fixed in a future update. There is a workaround. As long as USB 1/2 is armed for recording on one track all other USB channels are available for selection on other tracks. Dufrense
Aha! Thanks for informing me, guess I will have to wait for this feature :) Thanks again! /Duf
henricus1180
I have the same issue but in Ableton Live, and the workaround doesn't work for me - I already had a track armed for 1/2, as I wanted to capture both the DI and the effects on separate tracks as described in the manual. The effected track from 1/2 records fine, but there is nothing on the DI track from 7. I have checked the Global Settings>Ins/Outs has 'Re-amp Src Out USB 7' set to Inst 1, and my guitar is plugged into Instrument 1. Ableton's Audio settings are using the ASIO config, and 7&8 are set up for Mono inputs. Input Channel is set to 7 for the DI track.
silverhead
I don’t remember exactly. You may have to arm tracks with ALL USB channels selected (1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7, and 8) before any other than 1/2 deliver a signal to your DAW. henricus1180
OK, thanks for getting back to me. I have a sort of workaround whereby I add an extra (empty) path to my Stadium Preset, with the Input Block set to Instrument 1 and the Output Block set to USB 1/2 (with Global Ins/Outs for USB 1/2 changed to Direct Out). This lets me record a DI track from the empty path, while monitoring with the effects on the other path (Output still set to Matrix). I then change the USB 1/2 settings back, and re-amp immediately to get an initial version of a 'wet' track. This does seem a bit of a 'miss' though. There is a whole section of the manual dedicated to using USB7 or 8 for direct out in parallel with a stereo effected output on 1/2. It surprises me that there isn't more reference to this issue when I search for it, which makes me wonder if it only happens with specific use cases. Do you have any feedback from Line 6 for your bug report on either the scope of the issue (does it really affect everyone, or just particular DAWs etc), or the timescales of a fix? Thanks again, H
silverhead
I believe it’s just particular DAWs. So it likely doesn’t affect too many users. I use Sonar and I have this issue. If it applied to everyone I’m sure we’d be seeing more reports here.

henricus1180
I raised my own ticket with Line 6 to confirm it affects Ableton, and their response confirms the workaround provided by Silverhead: This is a bug with the additional USB audio busses (all after 1/2) -The workaround is to have a track or tracks with the "previous" USB busses armed in addition to the other USB outputs. For example : -USB 3-4 and 5-6 will not record without USB 1-2 armed, USB 7-8 needs to have all previous USB tracks armed in order to record in the DAW -this will be fixed in a future update -but we cannot provide any timescale for firmware updates and which fixes will be included in the next update Best regards Line 6 /Ampeg Support Europe
