kintoc Posted March 25 Share Posted March 25 Hi everyone, I’m looking for some feedback about a strange USB issue with my Helix LT. I just bought an Helix LT, at home, Windows was detecting that something was connected by USB, but the Helix would not be recognized properly. In Device Manager I kept getting: “This device cannot start. (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR” Here’s what I already tried: reinstalled HX Edit and Line 6 drivers cleanly removed old POD Go / Line 6 drivers tested with 2 different USB cables tested on multiple USB ports tested on 2 different PCs tried Update Mode, but it still was not detected Because of that, I thought the USB section of the Helix might be faulty. I then brought it to Melison (authorized repair center in France). On one of their computers, the Helix worked normally and they were even able to update it from firmware 2.30 to 3.80. But on another one of their computers, they were also able to reproduce the same USB Code 10 error. So at this point it looks like the Helix is not completely dead on USB, but may have an intermittent / unstable USB hardware issue, possibly related to: the USB port itself solder joints the USB section on the board or some compatibility/tolerance issue with certain PCs/controllers Has anyone here had a similar problem with a Helix LT? Especially a case where: it works on some computers but gives Code 10 / STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR on others I’d be very interested to know what the actual cause was in your case. Thanks. waymda Posted March 26 Share Posted March 26 Along with raising a ticket as siverhead mentions, some observations: L6 products have always been finicky with USB (at least in my experience), across multiple iterations of Windows They were even worse with USB to Midi implementation and needed specific devices to work - thinking Variax updates here For my Helix and LT: I have had to test different ports on the same machine to get stability I have had brand new cables out of the wrapper not working - to the point of not detecting the unit(s) Tested multiple cables over extended perios of time to get a solid consistent connection - and kept those cables aside for L6 use So it may not be the unit.
