Mincer
Looking at the EX2 manual, it looks like that with the HX Effects, the switch can't be used for anything. True? I am trying to decide if it is worth the upgrade from what I currently use.
Schmalle
The switch is not directly compatible with the HX FX. That's why it's not listed as a compatible device. But you can probably use a hack to use the Toe Switch as a fake expression pedal with only two states (open / close) to switch stuff (EDIT: only momentary): For this the EX2's Toe Switch Out with HX FX's EXT 2 In. BUT: a 10k Ohm resistor needs to be added in parallel. This can be done by modding a TS cable where you open one plug and solder said resistor between tip and sleeve. Have fun! Mincer
The switch is momentary, so I don't think that would work. It would only close if you kept it pressed.

Mincer
Possibly a firmware update to the HX Effects would allow an external momentary switch (like on the EX2) plugged into one of the expression jacks to turn on an effect, but I can't spend $150 to just hope that they will add that.
