garymwest
Helix Stadium Floor – Expression Pedal Parameter Randomly Jumps to Physical Pedal Position Product: Helix Stadium Floor Firmware Version: 1.3.2 Issue Summary: Parameters assigned to Expression Pedal 1 will unexpectedly jump to the pedal's current physical position without the pedal being touched. This occurs after a variable amount of time and causes audible changes during use. Description: I have Expression Pedal 1 assigned to one or more parameters using the Menu > Controller Assign method (not Learn Controller). The expression pedal behavior is set to Preset. When I save a preset or snapshot with a parameter at a specific value, the parameter initially recalls correctly. However, after a period of time (sometimes around 30 seconds, sometimes longer), the assigned parameter suddenly jumps to the current physical position of the expression pedal even though the pedal has not been moved. I have observed this behavior on multiple parameters, including: Delay Mix Delay Feedback Amp parameters The parameter always jumps to the actual physical location of the pedal rather than remaining at the stored snapshot or preset value. Expected Behavior: The assigned parameter should remain at the saved preset or snapshot value until the expression pedal is physically moved. Actual Behavior: Without touching the expression pedal, the assigned parameter suddenly updates to the pedal's current physical position. Steps to Reproduce: Assign Expression Pedal 1 to a parameter using Menu > Controller Assign. Set the parameter to a desired value and save the preset or snapshot. Leave the expression pedal stationary. Wait approximately 30 seconds to several minutes. Observe that the assigned parameter may suddenly jump to the pedal's physical position. Additional Information: Expression pedal is set to Preset behavior. Assignments were created through the Controller Assign menu, not Learn Controller. The timing of the jump is inconsistent. No physical movement of the expression pedal occurs before the parameter changes. The issue is reproducible with multiple parameter types. Troubleshooting Performed: Verified expression pedal assignments. Confirmed pedal is set to Preset behavior. Re-saved presets and snapshots. Observed the same behavior on different assigned parameters. Questions: Is this a known firmware issue in version 1.3.2, and are there any recommended diagnostic steps or workarounds? mike-w
I've had this happening with one of my EXP 1 pedals. I'm suspecting age. but it is happening to me as well. It seems to happen when I first start to play and then I don't have trouble after that. I always make sure I have presets dragged to a folder in my computer in case I accidentally save a corrupted one. How old is your pedal? I have cleaned the pots in the two I own. The other one "bumps" on at the back of the travel. I only notice it when I have a fuzz on when soloing on my pedal steel. I use an EXP instead of an inline volume pedal. Probably Fall, I'm going to practice my soldering, and replace the pots.
jmrwoods
UPDATE My issue was slightly different than OP’s. That said, support responded and suggested I simply tighten the pedal. I was skeptical (due to the severe and constant downward drift) but it worked. There was apparently enough voltage present to trigger auto-calibration. I’ll have to keep an eye on this when I leave the pedal in a position other than 0% or 100%. Prior post below —————————————- I’m also experiencing this. I’m using a brand new L6 EX2 expression pedal with my Stadium (both purchased new just last week - and updated to 1.3.2). During gigs yesterday and today it was exhibiting this behavior with a volume block. Sometimes it would drift mid-song. The worst example I caught was the 30 min break between a sound check and taking stage to perform - it dropped from 100% to 85% without being touched. I’ve tried multiple TRS and TS cables, rebooting with it connected/disconnected, reversing polarity, etc. I submitted a support ticket earlier today. rwandering
When it comes to tightening pedals, one thing I've learned is that if you overtighten the outside screw, the force of moving the pedal can end up loosening the inside screws. This is the case for the Dunlop X pedals (mini and normal size); I don't know about the L6 EX2. My solution was to use Loctite on the inside screws and then having lighter tension on the outside screw.
