joeloduca
Some questions I am hoping someone can help me with. I used to have a Helix Floor from 2016 and I did the Helix Stadium XL upgrade. On my old unit, I have been a huge fan of controlling various effect parameters via midi continuous controller numbers. - Its worked excellently under the old Helix Floor unit but not so on the helix Stadium. On the old unit, I did all my MIDI cc controlling via the typical 5pin MIDI DIN connecter that's been around since the 1980's. Trying that same thing on the Stadium isn't working. Just for examples, I used CC08, 09, 10, 11, & 12 for controlling things. When I put that same MIDI connector into my stadium, I can tell its receiving the MIDI, but some things are having adverse effects on the helix. Like I think cc09 is actually muting the helix.. something like that. I am suspecting that Line6 may have assign certain midi continuous controller numbers to none changeable functions? anyone know, yes or no? If so, anyone know where I can determine what is available for me to use at my descression?? Other question, the world is essentially moving towards USB "baked in MIDI" - where the midi conversation is transmitted via USB cables.. On the back of the Helix Stadium, I have a USB-A and USB-C. Does MIDI flow thru these connectors? I don't have the required cable if the answer is strictly USB-C. I've done a lot of troubleshooting on this and to the best of my knowledge, it's something in the stadium XL, Like I am trying to use "reserved" midi CC numbers.. If anyone knows, much appreciated. rawkbob
USB C port for midi, should be enabled by default but you'll need to turn on midi through if you want that via the thru port from usb or midi in, check the settings under the global settings > midi - the manual explains this and has details on the ccs etc https://manuals.line6.com/en/helix-stadium/live/midi https://manuals.line6.com/en/helix-stadium/live/global-settings#globals-midi
rd2rk
The way I read it, some CCs are RESERVED for GLOBAL FUNCTIONS. These are called when CCs are sent on MIDI Channel 1. Use MIDI Channel 2 for USER ASSIGNED CCs.
joeloduca
Thank you so much RD2RK ! you get the Helix Stadium XL Grammy award for this. You pegged my issue. Changed my control channels around a little and everything started working the way it did in the old Helix Floor I had.. MUCH APPRECIATED.
