barnsleyboy
I've followed all the instructions, but it is now stuck on 99% - has been for the last 10 mins. When should I turn the Helix off and try to update again without fear of bricking it? Please someone help!!!
silverhead
You can turn it off without worry then power up again. It should start with the previous firmware still intact. I find the fastest and most reliable update method is using the device itself, not the app or Line 6 Central. When a firmware update is available the menu button on the top left of the main screen will show an alert. Press the menu button and you will see the same alert on the Download button. Press the Download button to begin the update, then follow the prompts. The reason this method is faster is because the firmware download to the device occurs directly from the Line 6 server, in one step. Using the app or Line 6 Central involves two steps: first the download from the server to your computer, then an Over The Air (OTA/WiFi) transfer from your computer to the device - meaning the firmware is being downloaded/transferred twice. Your screenshot indicates that a transfer failure happened during the second step, meaning the firmware never actually reached your device. Hence the installation never began, hence no problem restarting the device using the current firmware. Here’s a snippet from the manual: Note: When Helix Stadium is connected to the Internet, and you’re signed in to your Line6.com account, the Main Menu icon appears with a red dot if an update is available. We highly recommend you keep your device updated for the latest and greatest amps, effects, and features. Remember to also update the free Helix Stadium application to keep it current for optimal functionality.
