Stadium will not connect to the app via USB (Ver 1.4)

EDIT: I just realized that there's another thread on the same issue and I don't see an option to delete this thread. Sorry for the duplication

I was happy to see that in Ver 1.4, USB is now supported when running the App, however I was still getting dropouts so I checked the connections and I was surprised to see that the unit was still connected via WiFi, not USB.  I didn't have any problem updating the unit's firmware using USB, however the app doesn't want to connect via USB.

I'm running the latest Version 1.4 software on both my Stadium unit and the Windows PC. When I check the connections, the app shows that its connected via WiFi, and that USB is available for updating.  If I turn off WiFi on the Stadium unit, then its not possible to connect to the app.

I've tried plugging the cable into both the USB 2.0 and 3.0 connectors on my PC and I get the same results.  I've also tried different cables.

What's odd is the the app's error message indicates that "At this time, only updating is supported over USB"

Any suggestions on what the problem might be here?

Here are the pop-up dialog boxes that I'm receiving:

I would restart both the Stadium device and your computer.

Restarting doesn't make a difference.  I installed the Stadium App onto a different computer and I get the same result (no USB connection).  Both PCs are newer high-end machines running Windows 10, so its not like I'm trying to connect to an outdated machine.
