barnsleyboy
Ok, so here's the culprit: And here's the problem: Looks like a crack in the scribble strip screen, but it's a cat hair inside Grrrr! I've taken the back cover off and blasted it with air, but I can't dislodge it. Before I start randomly taking screws out, does anybody know which ones I need to remove to ease the board away enough to give it another blast with compressed air to remove it? ... and yes, I will take full responsibility if I break it, so no litigation worries :-) Any help from you wonderful people gratefully accepted. theElevators
I have a cat as well, and I have a habit of vacuuming the Helix once a week. Expression pedal, around all the buttons, everything. Then I wipe it down with some Windex. Also when not in use, I cover it with microfiber towel and plastic that the Helix came in. No such issues for me. While you're disassembling the Helix, take liquid DeoxIT and add it to every microswitch aka tactile switch, then press a few times. That way you won't have any footswitch issues for the next 2 years
barnsleyboy
Fantastic - Hair is now out, unfortunately I reassembled and have left some dust and debris behind in another scribble strip window, , so need to take it apart again. Obviously these are assembled in a dust free factory environment. I'll need to be a bit more careful!
LuniTunes
I wonder what it would take to establish and maintain a small dust-free clean room in a residential setting. People have walk-in humidors and climate-controlled wine cellars; why not contaminant-controlled nerd rooms for dweebing around with sensitive electronics?
