lasvideo
As I start exploring the WB this question comes to mind. When I first open up the WB and all my JTV-59s guitars are up loaded in (VERY fastly) do they include the correct detailed info on the pots? For example, is the resistance & capacitance of the tone correct for the pickup highlighted? I want to brighten up the mid range of the ES-335 and I believe altering the resistance will do this, but I want to make sure that what uploads from the guitar is correct. I thought I read somewhere that those default values for the pickups had to be loaded by me from the drop down list of Pickup Defaults. This doesn't make sense to me, so this is why I ask. I would think ALL info from the 60 uploaded guitar files to the WB would contain correct info. Heres the post that made me wonder about this. Posted 21 August 2013 - 01:12 PM There is a "load tone and volume defaults" tab on HD Workbench. For some reason the models are not preset to the correct values for all of the models. You must click that tab and pick the appropriate settings. Once that is done, it does make quite a big difference. The models sound much better in most instances. Sometimes it may show the correct match up on the tab, but click something else then go back and click the one that matches up with the model you have selected. Even though it may read as though it matches, sometimes it actually does not. http://line6.com/support/topic/2147-cap-values/
lasvideo
"..who knows?" LOL! Exactly why I posted the question here. In hopes that someone who DOES know will respond to the question. ;) If you read the link to the forum thread you see that folks noticed that when they loaded the models from the Variax that a lot of these settings didnt seem to make sense based on their knowledge of these parameters. THAT was the motivation to get clarity about this issue. The question is...when HD WB loads in all the models from the Variax are all the settings for the Pots correct. Plain and simple. Im sure a Line 6 person would know. :)
stevekc
This link has very good demos on the impact of different value caps have on tone for generic electric guitars http://www.seymourduncan.com/tonefiend/guitar/customize-your-caps/ This thread talks about different vol pot resistance and its impact on Tone http://www.strat-talk.com/forum/tech-talk/284694-talk-me-about-capacitors.html Knowing these values and tone strategy knowledge works with Line 6 Variax Workbench
lasvideo
Thanks Steve, but my original question still stands... ...when HD WB loads in all the models from the Variax are all the settings for the Pots correct.
