Model Packs increase the number of Amp or FX Models of a GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt, PODxt Live or PODxt Pro, for a wider variety of tone possibilities. When a particular tone in the library relies on a Model available in one of these packs, you'll see symbol(s) to indicate which Packs: MS (Metal Shop), CC (Classics Collection), FX (FX Junkie), and PP (Power Pack).

The models within the FX Junkie Model Pack are already included in PODxt Live, and offered for purchase to add-on to GuitarPort, TonePort, PODxt and PODxt Pro.

Variax is the uniquely flexibile guitar from Line 6. Our Vetta II amplifier includes a digital connection for the Variax that lets you store settings for both your amp and your guitar in the Vetta II so that when you call up a Vetta Channel Memory your amp and guitar can change sounds together. Vetta II Tones marked with this guitar symbol include this Variax data.

For each tone in the library, you'll see an icon for either a single coil or humbucker pickup. This tells you whether the tone is best for use with a single coil pickup or a humbucker, so you can select the appropriate pickup on your guitar when using this tone.

Attention POD 2.0, Flextone and HD147 owners... Your hardware doesn't do Stomp effects, so you'll hear something different than what was intended. Try increasing the Drive or choose a higher gain Amp Model to get the right sound. The other aspects of the sound should translate as expected, so you'll at least get a great starting place for tweaking.

This is a first take at a "pedalboard only" setup for using Helix with a Friedman Runt amp. Path 1A,1B,and 2A are the before Runt / in FX loop of runt; but then Path 2B takes the Helix mic input, XLR in from the Runt XLR out; to go through a looper to output to multi; l6link, XLR, etc. - but looper does not go out to the Runt amp. I've got an outboard expression pedal connected to exp.3 to control the send to the looper. This is for doing looper jam direct recording. Pedal forward when you want to overdub; once you have the loop going and you want to jam, pedal back stops sending your live playing to that path. When I am jamming like that at home I set up ProTools to record USB 7 for dry guitar, USB 8 for dry mic (in this case, that is the pedalboard in 4CM with the Friedman, and then the Friedman cab simulated XLR out, before any post-Runt processing). This allows recording of the "loop" going out to USB 1/2 on one track, and what you are playing over it going to the dry mic on USB7. I didn't do much with the snapshots, and the FX are pretty basic; just a first attempt. Seem to be getting noise from the USB being connected. Using an Ebtech hum eliminator on the send and returns from the amp to the Helix; might need to mess around with those cables some more; Noise gates are in there to deal with that noise in my rig, adjust as needed. Note - master volume only controls the looper output; the cables for the amp are routed through the Helix send and returns only; send 3 goes to the amp fx return.
