  1. Great! Thanks for the tips and info guys! I'll be swapping pups in a few days.
  2. Hey guys. I have a Dimarzio Tone Zone I want to put in my JTV 59 black. I know it will void warranty, but I don't plan on sending this amazing guit anywhere except into the tonal universe of soundness...whatever that meant!??? Anyway, I want to swap it in the bridge position from the stock pup. I know their are other forum topics of similar topic, but none are answering the question? The Tone is a 4 wire pup, with same colors as the JTV stock pups. Now, here is the big part! I DO NOT want to even touch the circuit motherboard. Can I unscrew the pup where there is about 4 inches of wire available before it disappears into the body, snip it there, and attach each color to the corresponding color in the Tone Zone and use heat shrink to seal the deal and call it a day? Do all pups colors run in fashion? Lastly, the Tone Zone is High Output, so will this kill the response of the Piezo pup when modeling is engaged? Tone Zone is around 17kohms. Thanks guys. Have a blessed day, and may your strings last, your smile be forever and may callouses tell the tale that you Rock!
  3. Hey guys, I recently put on the Grover 406c Locking tuners, and the High E tuner has snapped quite a few of my Strings. Seems this is a flaw I. the design from many forums I've been to. Does anyone know which set of Gotoh Locking tuners would be a direct fit? Again, GOTOH, NOT ANY OTHER COMPANY. Thanks for the help.
  4. I recently did a light wet sand and buff on my JTv neck. So much better now, and not as sticky. Upgraded the tuners to Grover 406c's auto locking minis, and they are pretty good. I honestly think I'll ended up changing to gotoh locking tuners with thumb wheel. Not an auto lock fan on the High E tuner. Other than that, this is still my number one guitar, and my vintage collection is gathering dust. Just can't get away from the weight, feel, length, and shape of the jtv59.
  5. That's the first time I've heard someone say, "I sold my Kemper and came back to my HD." Good on ya. I am a pastor and worship leader also. I use both and HD and a Boss Gt100. The soldano patch was from the Boss Gt100, but I'm sure I can replicate in my HD also. I think you would agree that for worship leading/playing, multi effects boards are almost essential now. I am so glad I don't have my old 3k Pedalboard that took up half the Baptistry just to get an ambient sound. A wife, and two children is enough to make any man consolidate his rig! lol. Question? Are the 406cs you mentioned using with center holes still the minis or is the gearing case a bit larger?
  6. Ok, I just had to take a moment to write about my experience with the JTV59 Black. I received this guitar a few months ago from Kurt at Sweetwater Music. Now, let me give you some backstory! About two years ago, I purchased a Cherrry Burst JTV59 and ended up never playing it. Just couldnt wrap my ears around it. Playing in church twice a week pushed me to look at the JTV59 once again. Why the JTV59? Im a Les Paul buff. I do own a Richie Kotzen Tele, A 59 reissue Les Paul, a Strat Deluxe Goldtop, etc, and lo and behold, I am in love with my JTV59 more than any other guitar I own! Im talking close to 20k in guitars and this one just does it for me! I decided to quit fearing, and start shredding on this machine, and I am truly glad I did. It starts to become a true part of you if you give them a chance. This is not a fad guitar. This is serious musician tools here! I play twice a week live, and daily for at least an hour in practice, and I cannot tell you just how spot on these simulations can get if you work deep with this guit. Combine this with a multi effects pedal, and you have a compact fly rig that can do anything and more! The last two concerts I have performed, people were coming to me asking me how I got my sound. They loved, and specifically they were blown away by the 12 string, and Sitar sound I used with a soldano high gain amp! A few changes I made for my personal taste and few i will make soon. I did lightly sand the neck on mine as it waas very 'sticky' from factory, and didnt flow as fast as I like it. A little sand, and some powder, and bam! Silkness! I am also not a big fan of the stock pickups, so I changing those out for a set of Dimarzios Ive loved for years. The action, neck, and overall look of this guitar is just perfect for me as I have smaller hands and arms, so the fit is glove! I dont mind the tuners, as they stay in tune for days, but for me its going to be Grover Locking 406C's very soon. I just like the ease of locking tuners. Just wanted to submit some praise for this guitar and to thank Line6 for working so hard to create something that has changed my whole perspective of their tech. Huge thanks!
  7. Hey guys, I love my jtv59, but not a fan of the stock tuners. Can anyone tell me which Gotoh Locking tuners will fit my jtv59 as a direct drop in replacement? Got to be locking. Thanks.
  8. Any chance you guys might have a good diagram or easy to follow directions for 4 cable method with pod and tube amp?
  9. That sounds like the plan. I have a presonus Tube pre v2 that may warm up a pod hd500x a bit. Ill try a pod. I am pondering the 4 cable method as well. Of course Ill probably change my mind in a month again! Ahh, the tone search is like nose hair...It just keeps returning!
  10. Thank you for response. I am wondering though, since I was running direct to house before if the pod will be alot different since I have a Tech 21 Power Engine 60 and micing that?
  11. Hey guys, I dont mean to commit line 6 sacrilege here, just needing some user advice. I play twice a week in church and once out per week. Of course hauling gear is uber-tedious, but Im willing to do it if my tone is pleasing me. Let me start off by saying, I had a POD HD500 back in the day and it sounded ok to me. I still missed my tube amp and pedal though. The warmth, compression and puff of a tube amp moving air is hard to beat. I now have a few options. My old tube amp and pedals, my Fender Mustang Floor, and Tech 21 power engine 60 with Eminence Cannabis Rex speaker swap, and a blackstar ht5rh. My dilemma is I just cant get my ears to full embrace my tube amp on stage due to lower volumes. I also cant seem to get my Fender Mustang Floor through the Power Engine 60 to give me the warmth and fullness needed on my rythm playing as I am mainly a utility player, singer, and occasional lead player. So here is the main question???? Will the Pod HD 500x cover this tonal void better than the pod hd500 I had? I dont go direct to house, I mic my power engine 60 with a Peavey PVM 45IR mic to get the tone a little warmer. I guess Im trying to avoid at all cost going towards Fractal Axe FX stuff due to the $ of it all, but can I get close to where Im wanting to go with the pod? I miss the days when my face peels open with joyous smiles due to my tone. Any help, greatly appreciated, as I am a long time line 6 user in their mics, wireless uints and I also own a jtv59 party wagon! Blessings....
  12. Thanks for the replies guys. Looks like the consens is POD HD500X. I alos have a JTV59 Variax, so this is probably the better route for me since I do use that guitar occasionally. Ill be looking for a used 500x soon. Thanks again. Also, if you could steer me to some of the most useable tones in a live environment on CUSTOMTONE, and also any available ideas on tweaking the unit to forego too much beginning prep headache would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
  13. Hry guys, long time since my last post. Question? I am wondering what the consensus is between pod x3 live vs. pod hd 500x? Note, I am not a metal player. I play in church, and twice a week out, but it is mainly bluesy, rock, and ambient type tones. I have a full analog rig, and I'm just tired of it all. I want a one stop shop for direct to house tone. I like fat rock tones. and buttery blues. I've heard Lincoln Brewsters tones off his old pod x3 live, and I believe he now uses axe fx2, But just wanted to get some thoughts on wether I should grab a newer 500x or just get an old x3 live since I don't do metal, nor do I put a ton of fx in my chain anyway. P.S. I had a Pod HD500 back in the day, but just couldn't fully wrap my ears around it at the time. a friend had the X3 live then, and his tone smoked mine. Probably in the tweaking, but you get the idea of where I, wanting to go. Thanks.
  14. Hey guys, Ive beenusing my G30 wireless for 2 years now and love it passionately. To add to greatness, I was wondering if there was a specific short cord recommended by guitarist to get the best possible signal from the guitar to G30 to pedal board? Or, does it matter since the signal is digitized and sent fluffing through the air to my pedal board and beyond? Thanks for any replies and help. "Let's get every guitarist on earth to play an A chord at the same time and see if we can get the earth to Feedback!"
  15. Forgot to mention that I use this twice a week for church and everyday for personal play and practice. Light weight and looks fantastic. Get yours today at your participating dealer, just $19.95! Thats right jus......kiddin.
  16. I own the power engine 60 as well. I found some great tones between my HD500 and my Fender Mustang Floor. Specifically going for a Bonamassa type tone with my LP's. The stock Celestion 70/80 wasnt horrible, but it was mega ice picky! SO, like my other 212 combo amp, I changed out the stock speaker to an EMINENCE CANNABIS REX!!! The WEED speaker! As with my other amps, pure tonal bliss for me. Ive tried so many other speakers, and I keep coming back to the REX for its smooth tone, and even, full bottom end. Speaker change out was a breeze with Tech 21's ingenious method (That little hole in the bottom left of the back of the Cab is a punch hole. Take a screw driver, and push through. The whole grill cloth and board comes out on its own plank and reattaches to the velcro on the cab. Changed my speaker in literally 4 minutes.
  17. http://line6.com/customtone/tone/225614 Remember that on this patch, the amp sim is the Tech 21 British. On the main soundboard all my eq's are set to noon and I mix the tone from my HD500 and Tech 21's.
  18. Actually, My setup on patch is Wah, Tube Distortion pedal for when I need it, then my FX loop in, and then Delay, reverb, etc... I am using the Tech 21 Liverpool mainly for my clean tones, So, I use the same patch for both rythm rock leads, etc and for cleans. For my rythm, rock, leads, I use the Tech 21 British. When I want a clean tone, I simply disengage the British and engage the Liverpool. I will post pics tomorrow of the actual board, and patch. Thanks. Due to my amazement with the Liverpool, I will probably get the Tech 21 blonde for my clean tones, and use british and liverpool for my rockin! The chimes of the Liverpool ac30 tones are sick!
  19. I'm adding a new pedal to my chain this weekend. I will update with review soon. Due to my extreme joy for my new Tech 21 British pedal for my rythm and lead tones, I bit the bullet and found a killer deal on a Tech 21 Liverpool. The Brit is essentially a Marshall Amp in a pedal (ALL ANALOG< HALLELUJAH!) and the Liverpool is essentially a Vox AC30 in a pedal. Im putting the Liverpool in for my clean tones. I want the fatness in the clean section that the AC30 gives, combined with its chime. Below is my configuration, and oh, how I adore it! Cheers. Guitar into: 1. Line 6 G30 wireless unit into: 2. Presonus V2 Tube Preamp into: 3. Tech 21 British Character Pedal into: 4. Line 6 Pod HD500 FX Loop 5. The LIVERPOOL will chain to to the British pedal, both entering Pod FX loop, as they are Tru-Bypass pedals. 6. Screaming wonderful tone into: 7. Mine and any other ears in hearing distance! lol.
  20. Ha, yes, I love my Gibbys. I had a large collection at one time, and then I slowly began to sell many, as they were just taking up wall space and I wants guitars I will really play. I play my White LP Custom the most, by burst second, and my Fender Strat Deluxe Goldtop 3rd.
  21. Here's a sound bite of the patch I use with the Tech 21 with Tech 21 pedal disengaged. Im also singing on this sound bite to give a feel of the room and the tone working together. The patch by itself is still a good sounding patch IMO. Enjoy.... https://soundcloud.com/jasonk931/how-he-loves-short-test
  22. Sound is great through FX loop. Is the Blackstar Dist X Pedals Digital or Analog?
