  1. You sure you don't have your output plugged into the DI output? I believe it behaves exactly as you describe.
  2. New discovery. Today my octave pedal came that i put in the loop, always on, and using the loop on/off per patch to actually use it in my sound. Turns out function 1 turns the model FX loop on/off manually if you are using the FBV Mk2 shortboard with the Bass Pod XT Pro. I'm still not sure about function 2, wild guess is it turns the di loop on/off
  3. I found the FBV2 manual.... "• Function 1 & 2 Footswitches (Shortboard only): By default, these toggle the Comp effect and Amp on/off, respectively, within the current preset." still need to find out why they arent saving with the preset. After some messing about, seem like function 1 *sometimes* turns the amp model on and off, and function 2 does boost the signal like a compressor might do if set as such but does not affect the compressor display on the screen. Seems to be looping through 3 settings. Very weird.
  4. BACKGROUND: I've recently picked up a Bass Pod XT Pro as i wanted to go to a rack setup for bass after my Hartke head crapped out. I played 100's of gigs as a guitarist with the guitar Pod HD Pro and a tube power amp and absolutely loved the ease of use at the gig and the tone too. Just turn on the rack, plug in your FBV, and all your tones for all the songs are right there at ONE press of a button. Wah and Whammy right there as well. Amazing cleans and distortion to match a high end tube amp if you play your cards right. Love it. So anyway, now I have this Bass Pod XT and an SS power amp and so far am impressed. Have my first bank of presets set up and will tweak my tone a bit more at practice of course, but so far so good. QUESTION: I'm using the FBV 2 (full size controller) and just updated to latest firmware. I can't figure out what the Function 1 and Function 2 buttons are doing. They seem to be working as boost right now? I can't see either button actually turn anything on or off on the actual pod unit in any menus or on the lighted buttons. If i turn say Function 1 off by pressing it a few times, then save my patch, it comes back on if I reload the patch. This matters since the button seems to affect the tone (I could tweak either tone to live with it, but i'd rather figure this out). I have checked out the Bass Pod manual and i'm not having any luck. EDIT: Turns out function 1 turns the model FX loop on/off manually if you are using the FBV Mk2 shortboard with the Bass Pod XT Pro. FYI I'm not using manual mode, or at least don't intend to - I use patch a,b,c,d in whatever bank i'm in - and the pod is working this way at the moment by hitting bottom left 4 footswitches. TL;DR: What do Function 1 and Function 2 buttons on the FBV2 board with the Bass Pod XT Pro?
  5. Just picked up a 5153 50w. I was sold by the fact that the fx loop is midi switchable. Now according to the manual, the patch footswitches on the pod hd will NOT send cc messages (required to control 5153 fx loop) unless in pedalboard mode. So to me, that means in patch mode I can only change amp channels (controlled by midi program change message). I have an amp gizmo as last resort, but would love to ditch it. Any way to send both program and control messages in patch mode by pressing one footswitch?
  6. Note that the older rectifier amps have parallel fx loops (mine did at least), so you'd need to do a serial loop mod for those.
  7. I had the same problem...i missed buying new amps and whatnot, but the pod hd was just working.... Try what i did...i put a tube preamp (hafler t3) in the pods fx loop. I was amazed hom much better my already good tone (from the models) became when using the preamp instead. Loving my tone now. The best part is the pod hd pro is still the "brain" of my rig, doing all the switching and fx along with still using models for clean tone, all controlled by my fbv. I put a mini amp gizmo in my rack to convert the pods fixed patch midi messages to relays for the hafler. Now my only problem is gassing for other preamps, even though the Hafler is perfect for my needs.
  8. Wow, i had a Rocktron V 100 and 300 and they never got this hot, even in a fully packed rack. I'm currently running a tube power amp and don't have any heat issues. I would consider moving on from that power amp if it was me - just sounds like something is not right. I moved on from the V300 just because I was hell bent on going tube, but the one I had seemed to work pretty well without heat problems - then again I didn't have it all that long.
  9. You and me both..but at least we have the choice! Plus i have another new piece of gear this gig, dont need two new variables!
  10. Does this include Pod HD Pro? Dont see it mentioned.
  11. Thanks i 'll try that - it's on the FBV controller but must be similar pedal i'd think
  12. My main problem with pitch glide is the pedal calibration is constantly changing on me. So all the way down may be 0.5 instead of zero, rendering me out of tune until i re-edit the patch. I've calibrated but it seems to happen soon after. Maybe i need a new FBV.
  13. :D I have taken my fair share as well on various forums, learned plenty that way. If i may add something possibly constructive, i might ditch the dual amps and double track or re-amp in a recording scenario to save DSP, if this has not already been suggested (probably has)
  14. Fair enough rick, i may have gone a little overboard there! I hope you are able to get the tones you want....thats really what we all want, apparently your tones need some serious horsepower!!! Good luck!
