  1. Hello hurghico! As I live in Sweden, with the time difference and all, I havent had a chance to check this fully, but a preliminary says that your idea was a good one. I checked the box for a +18dB and the level seems to have gone up in recording. I will be able to give it a better go tomorrow. I see that I did leave inquestion as to how I connect, and you guessed it, by usb. I have experimented with amp settings and used the master in the amp settings, but until I wrote this thread I had not gotten a proper signal anyway.. Yes I do know that the master only affects the sound I hear. I appreciate your reply, and will get back when I have had better chance at testing properly.
  2. Hello pfsmith0! Thanks for the advice, I will try the studio EQ. Reaper doesnt have a signal boost on the incoming signal, but rather it is all up to the hardware. BTW, I got the idea of -10dB on the signal chain through one of Reapers instruction vid´s. I dont know if just -10 is magic, but I do know that all the backing tracks I have used on Reaper have a much stronger signal in amplitude that the one I generate through the guitar, os there is a gap to be acccounted for and remidied.
  3. I should have noted that I have the drive at 100 as well as the volume, despite that the sighnal into Reaper is consistently between -40 and-30 on the vue meter, and I would like a reading about -10. If I have missed including any settings of relavance, please ask.
  4. As noted above I have a HD. I need to boost the level of signal output when I record, at my present settings I am producing a signal that is -30db in my vue screen. I should add that I want a clean signal as a jazz player, I hve the vintage amp set installed. At present I have the following in the SET UP installations : pg 3/8 guitar in= 22k pg 5/8 s/p level = +12d pg 7/8 the global EQ setting is OFF I have found that increasing the Guitar In from 22k to a higher setting does not enhance the sound quality, like having too much gain, even if the sound level is increased. For example in the JC 120 (Rivet) amp settings, without any additional FX, I have: master 100% ER 100% Low cut 100 hz Res level 100% I am running the signals into Reaper, but despite the above I get a low signal. I have checked my laptop input settings and it is a 100%, though I do not believe that the laptop setting affects the signal into Reaper. Any help or guidance would be very much appreciated, I suspect I have missed some settin, but Which one?
  5. Thanks duncann, anyway the vintage models sound great on the POD!
  6. I finally found a line up of amp models in Helix and I conclude that the Vintage Pack is already installed in Helix. Is this correct?
  7. Hello I have a POD HD, to which I have recently purchased the Vintge Pack. I am becoming more and more interested in purchasing the Helix, thus my question. Can I use the same purchase of Vintage Pack to unlock the Vintage Pack function on the Helix, should I buy one, or do I need to purchase a new Vintage Pack? Or does the Vintage Pack come already installled and ready to use on the Helix? Thanks in advance Garbanzo
  8. Yep, that seems to have worked. I really appreciate the help!
  9. Hi skybone! Well, not yet as a matter of fact. I got the impression that something was to be posted to me, however after looking at the licence page I have the impression that I can download the software. Problem is I have not seen exactly how to do this, do you know how its done?
  10. Thanks skybone, I guess that Paypal was the key. I personally dont like PP as they provide a poor exchange rate and the owner has very right wing ideals and ideas. Still the purchase went through. It does make me wonder what the interest is L6 has in zip codes though.
  11. OK, thanks, that sounds like a good idea.
  12. Just to keep this alive, I have attempted to us Paypal, but this was rejected as I dont live in the US. I have tried using a generic zip code, instead of the correct 131 34 I tried 131 00. This failed as well as it "failed validation". Yes, I have used the correct site in my attempt to download, the one to place orders at if outside the US. Does anyone from L6 read these? What do I do next? Is the vintage pack worth all the effort?
  13. I live in Sweden. I have tried to purchase a model pack but the form I must fill in does not take my postal code as being correct. I happen to know my entered postal code is correct, but my knowledge does not help my purchase of the model pack. I have tried several attempts, thinking that my postal code could be construed as 13134 (which is not correct) or 131 34 (which is correct) but niether of these variations work. I have run out of ideas, does anyone have any? What should my next step be so that I can purchase the vintage model pack? Thanks garbanzo

    POD HD set up

I will have to get the vintage pack. The Soldono was an interesting idea, thus far I have been using the Twin and Bassman as amp base, I look forward to trying the ideas above. Thanks, garbanzo.

    POD HD set up

Byw, does anyone have a recommendation on setting up chains useable for jazz play? Or a tutorial that can be used to help me with this?
  17. Hummmmm, I got as far as ddufor and had an additional $12 added on for taxes when I would have downloaded from outside the US. I didn't get an explainatoin for this and cancelled. Is this correct?

    POD HD set up

Hej pfsmith0. Terrific job you have done with the GEQ post you refered to! Does anyone have any idea if L6 is going to include a GEQ type to the EQ fx's? Is this feature included in helix? Once again I am travelling and can't try any of this out until this weekend but this has become extremely interesting! Thanks all!

    POD HD set up

Thank you guys, this has become a very interesting post. Do any of you have a vid or a post that sheads light in how a jazzer would set up a signal train? I honestly learned some from a jazzer who had another model on how he went about chain development. Most of the vids I have seen are rock oriented, some jazz guidance would be helpful. Thanks, garbanzo

    POD HD set up

Thanks silver and piano! I play jazz. My settings are simple tube like results with warmth. A typical setting would be; a tube pedal, eq amp and cab, eq and reverg last. Will the global eq settings cover the entire chain? I assume so. Silverhead, do you agree with pianoguyy about leavivg the global eq off? I have a head with a cab and play through an eminence Beta (bass speaker which falls off at about 5000hz, though I have another speaker which has the full guitat range which I have trouble controlling, perhaps the global eq would help? Have either of you experience with the classic amp settings that are available? I am sort of interested in them myself, though I am even mort interested in the Helix. I appreciate your responses. I am travelling at the moment and cant experiment just now.

    POD HD set up

I am constantly learning new features on the HD. In the setup proceedure (hold the veiw button then move to page 7/8) on page 7 of 8 there are a couple of settings related to the global EQ that I do not understand and would appreciate some enlightenment. For example one can using dial button 1 go to the Band Select Low, button 2 adjusts the frequency, which I assume pertains to cut off. However button 3 which adjusts Q, and 4 which adjusts Gain I dont understand at all. For the first I dont know what Q is, so I need some help with that. Then there is Gain. Where in the long string of adjustments of for example Amp/Speaker and those settings, then FX´s and all those individul setings, will these setting, Q and Gain, be pertainent? I rell need some help understanding. I dont want to screw up all my hard worked for settings by messing with something I dont understant just to see what happens. Thank you in advance, garbanzo ps These questions are not dealt with in the advanced manuals, neither 2.0 or 2.1, so I have not anything to try to relate to.
  22. After posting the question, and before your reply, I took the jump. I used the line out on the POD and adapted a cable from 1/4" to the what ever size is necessary for the audio/aux in on the Roland, and it worked. I m not sure I can say weather or not there is a difference in sound quality as opposed to using the line in, but it works. Nothing blown, which was a relief. Thanks for your reply!
  23. I have the above equipment so I was wondering what the best way is to connect them to get the optimal effect out of the POD HD? I have several options as I understand: 1. Guitar to POD to input on Roland 2. Guitar to POD to audio in, which bypasses the Roland preamp 3. Then there are several foot switch input, these however I understand to turn on/off the effects built into the Roland and not real inputs as such. So my question first is, 1. can I use the audio input without damaging equipment? 2. should I expect any difference in sound out put from the Roland? Would the sound be less Roland colored and more POD colored?
  24. Thanks guys, worked like a charm.........................................
  25. I upgraded to W10 recently (much better than 8.1!). I discovered today that EDIT has been removed. I have reinstalled my POD HD today and installed the latest software, but I can not find a seperate download for EDIT, so that I can process sounds form my laptop, which is much easier that working the knobs on the POD. I thought that EDIT software came with the HD software. I have Java installed. Have I missed something? Thanks in advance for help! garbanzo
