  1. The overwhelming consensus is that the pod sucks. I don't buy it. everyone's saying "just get a tube amp" haha. Oh well... must these things always devolve?
  2. interesting about the cabinet! yes, I have 500x... they should open in 500, right? just might run into DSP issues.
  3. the recordings might not be the best example of the tone unfortunately... I am using a variax JTV at the moment. if someone could check out the patches I am using, or could point me in the direction of some patches which sound like a pedal and some amps and not like radiohead's subterranean homesick alien, it would be helpful ;)
  4. the bass player is always telling me to turn down my bass, too lol
  5. ok, great - so how does it sound "thin" and what can I do about it? I am used to using guitar plugins in a DAW, but not configuring the POD for live use.
  6. This is quite possibly due to my inability to properly program patches for performance. I have another thread which is related to this: http://line6.com/support/topic/2902-good-monitor-for-pod-hd500x-and-vocals/ However, I am getting comments (from my bass player, and a fellow band in the area who has come to our gigs) that our sound is thin. here is our reverbnation page: http://www.reverbnation.com/abbeyroadhawley the sounds you are hearing here are a mix of direct and mic'ed (some bleed from the PA, I record the drums with mics). Keep in mind it might sound worse through PA speakers only. So, what can I do? I certainly don't feel "connected" to my own sound and, as you can hear, my solo performance suffers. I feel like I'm waiting instead of expressing, hesistating instead of letting it rip. Is there latency or something? Let me show you the set list I use (WHY WONT THESE FORUMS ALLOW UPLOAD OF MY FILE? LOL) here it is: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3305204/User%201.5xs any help, or harsh critique, is helpful. Please be nice. I haven't had time to program much. any help would be appreciated. Please bear in mind this is for live use.
  7. Hello, I have been having a couple of problems feeling "connected" to my sound, one is the pod sounding "thin" according to some musician listeners, and the other is, i think, my lack of monitoring. I have a decent PA system with JBL speakers (decent for me) - but I don't use monitors. My drummer took the only monitor we have, and I can't always share it with him. I have broken strings quite often, and I am wondering if this is, in any way, related to my lack of monitoring - maybe im playing harder due to the fact that I can't hear myself. I am thinking of getting a small monitor and putting it in front of me. Behringer has some decent ones for cheap - and I don't mind relying on behringer, I have a bunch of behringer equipment at home which works great. but are there any suggestions as to monitors which would sound great for my guitars and vocals?
  8. well, I fear doing anything to the guitar until I have some kind of assurance from Line 6... they don't post on here, so I'll bring this to the attention of the support staff.
  9. I would jump out of a building and slit my throat on the way down if I had to go back to the 600, no offense. even with this issue.
  10. that's not a lesson. that's a workaround. during a gig, I don't have time, in the dark, to ensure that I have every single string break accounted for.
  11. there is a cavity yes. hopefully its ok if i do that. Im going to wait for some replies here. Im sure it's preventable. but.... were they thinking?
  12. I am REALLY REALLY glad i didnt sell my workbench and find this decision to be VERY disheartening.
  13. Hello :) I love the new variax HD models - I notice a difference, but wished there was some kind of video showing the difference... somehow. anyway, I have been messing around with trying to get a nirvana esque sound. Of course, fender - but the spank seems to "bell" like and the tele seems too "thick" - anyone try to approximate a jaguar or mustang sound? Maybe a spank body but PAF's? I am not totally sure, but any advice would be great.
  14. for some ridiculous reason, they made it so you can no longer connect through the pod. hope no one sold their workbench interface (like I almost did!!)
  15. There are some pretty great sounds in the talkbox effect, but it seems impossible to control with the exp. pedal. why would this be?
  16. it DOES work as a midi device, but not as a USB midi interface. I would not use the USB at the same time as the midi, I think it confuses it. I have it controlling pedals and wah in revalver right now.
  17. Hello, I was thrilled to hear that the Pod hd500x was also usable as a midi controller. However, I have found the process absolutely time consuming and confusing. I use reaper - in my midi devices in reaper, I see the Pod HD500x: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zqe5nk1aebjpg2u/Screenshot%202013-07-25%2023.30.01.png notice that the pod hd500x is coming up as a midi device?!?!! however, I have a midi cable connected to the firepod, my interface. which one actually works? What is the step by step process? Can I set it in HD500X Edit? The manual is about as clear as mud on this one.
  18. it's used, I want to upgrade to the new one. email me at jasonbrianmerrill[AT]gmail[DOT].com
