  1. Really? Can somebody please confirm this. I don't see how 'it' could work such a thing out and in my case it's very wrong so I need to correct it. Edit: I've just gone through 10 pages of tones and they all have the humbucker icon, something wrong here, surely. -
  2. I've uploaded a tone but can't change the pickup type, when I click on the humbucker icon all I get is a message telling me what it means, no way to alter it. Help please. Thanks. -
  3. Great. Thank you. Just getting to grips with my new controller, very pleased I bought it. I think rack+it is going to turn out to be the perfect setup for my needs. :) -
  4. Is the rack to foot controller cable a standard ethernet cable? I'd like to use a shorter one than that supplied. Thanks -
  5. This is one of the main reasons for me also, I have very poor eyesight which requires me to have my face 3 - 4 inches away from the display, it'll save me a fortune in ibuprofen. :) -
  6. I'd like some more details about the Helix controller, such as whether it's powered by the Helix or needs a separate supply, but I can't find it in amongst the products section of this site. I've found the FBV 3 but I think that's a different product, it does have an expression pedal though and I don't think the Helix Controller does, so maybe that would be a better option. Would it do just a good a job or am I better off with the dedicated controller? Thanks

    Delete Patch?

All of this is true, particularly: "I'll grant you, L6 could program a "Delete" option and automatically fill the hole; but how many of us would unintentionally delete the wrong file? I know I have!" Which also shines light on another glaring omission, an undo option. These are basic prerequisites in ANY editing operation, be it music, text, pictures, video, whatever. I'm not in the least bothered about the technical and/or semantical variations, a delete/remove/clear/reste/whatever option is a basic simple necessity and frankly, I'm surprised at having to justify such a thing. -

    Delete Patch?

Thanks for your reply, but I'm sorry, I don't understand what you mean. Do you mean copy a new blank patch and then paste it over the one I want to remove? That'll work, but honestly no delete/remove option? What are you supposed to do when all slots are full?? Is it asking so much to have a delete option in there, so it's simple to start afresh? -

    Delete Patch?

When I right click on a patch I get the usual menu: Copy Paste Import Export Rename Hmm, seems to be something missing. How on earth do I remove an unwanted patch from the list? I've checked the manual and amazingly there is no reference to deleting patches. Blocks, yes, patches no. Someone please tell me I'm missing the blindingly obvious, I must be, surely. -
  10. I see. OK thanks for your replies. I got the rack precisely because I didn't want the pedal board, I already have the HD500X and don't have room for another one. It would be easy enough to add the features I suggested, but I suppose they'd rather I buy more of their hardware. Hay-ho. -
  11. Is it possible to assign blocks to the six buttons/knobs beneath the display, so I can jumpt to them quickly and easily? Also, how do I use snapshots on the rack? There's nothing about them in the manual which I suppose is pre-update. Thanks -
  12. Yes that was it, I had an old vcersion of the editor. All OK now, thanks. -
  13. Ah, that might be it. I'll check I've got the latest version of the software and report back. Thanks again. -
  14. Thanks for your reply silverhead, however I am double clicking but there is no change on the PC editor screne, apart from the name. -
  15. I open up the editor on my PC, select a patch from the list on the left, it changes on the unit itself (rack) and the name of the patch changes on my PC editor but the actual patch is not reflected on the edit page on my PC. What am I doing wrong? Help much appreciated. Thanks -
  16. Thanks very much nippy, that's good to know. I'll probably get one now. :)
  17. The answer to my original question was and still is no, we've just almost found a way around it. :)
  18. OK, that sounds interesting and quite doable. You may have just brought me back online. :) Thanks again guys, much appreciated.
  19. All the more reason for Line 6 to get ahead of the competition. On my HD500x I can flick through 100 patches in 100 seconds or less if necessary, stopping when I find one that suits, adding an extra 10 seconds and some fiddling around for each one is far from ideal. But thanks, I do appreciate all your help people and I'll think about it. I'm still bemused and saddened by this decision though.
  20. Can I just clarify, it's not the SIZE of jack I'm bothered about, it's the job it does. I'd be more than happy with a regular stereo jack as the audio source input.
  21. But I wouldn't just have to structure a simple preset would I, I'd have to structure EVERY preset I wanted to use with the line in. So I can't just randomly run through presets seeing how they sound with "The Royal Scam" I'd have to set them up first, which somewhat reduces the free-flowing fun nature of playing, for me anyway.
  22. Because it's the next generation and I want all of the improvements that brings. Yes I want access to the best tones I can get, and I specifically want a rack for ease of use in my particular situation. The Helix looks just perfect, easy to see display for my dodgy eyes, dedicated knobs for real-time tweaking, edit via app etc. I really shouldn't have to explain why I would like to upgrade to the best and latest, it's pretty obvious I think.
  23. Not at all, but according to silverhead I'd have to set up patches specifically structured to use it, rather than just plug in and play.
  24. Oh I see, snobbery. Fair enough, I'll keep my £1000 in my pocket then and stay with my (designed for amateurs) HD500X. Thanks all the same, I was just about to buy one from Dawsons in Liverpool when I thought I'd better have a look just be sure, good job I did. Like I say, very disappointing indeed.
