  1. I got the Mission Engineering and it's great. The problem with the Line 6 is tat it's flimsy and light. I've kicked it across the room a few times while playing. I also don't like that it sits at a different height than the one on the POD. It throws off a my balance a bit when stepping on a pedal at a different height.
  2. The assignable footswitches are the best thing about the 500X. You can assign as many things as you want to each switch. You can even turn on and off amps so you can completely switch rigs if you'd like.
  3. Is there a list of compatible 3rd party expression pedals? I'm finding that some use TRS cables and I'm assuming they can't be used.
  4. On every patch my last 3 pedals are a volume pedal, delay, and reverb. I set the volume pedal to a minimum setting of 70% and a maximum of 100%, so all I need to do to get a gain increase is step on the pedal. It's much easier and a lot smoother transition from rhythm to lead than programming a button to increase the volume using an EQ. Plus doing it this way it allows me to get my sound and then simply make it louder without changing it. I've seen videos of people saying to assign the pedal to the output of the amp. Not only is that very inconsistent, because all amps are designed different, it also changes the tone. Many amps get more distorted with their volumes all the way up. My way is just like having the sound guy turn you up and down. I'm in a 5 piece, so you may want to experiment with the minimum settings.
  5. I have the 500X. I don't plan on using any of the stereo features any time soon. I always put a mono summing device first in my chain (noise gate) and I have every mix set to center and set both mix levels exactly the same. So if I use both XLR outputs and send one to the board and the other to small monitor speaker in front of me they should get the same exact signal, correct? I jus want to hear myself a little bit louder than what the rest of the band is hearing in their monitors.
  6. Thanks everyone. I will experiment and report back my findings.
  7. I think a lot of it has to do with phase cancellation. If the amps sound too similar the combined waveforms will cancel each other out and sound very thin. Your best results will be to use two different amps with different effects and levels of drive. AC/DC is a great example of two guitars that alone are very clean, but when combined they sound like a huge wall of guitars.
  8. Can you elaborate on why this is important?
  9. Then that is what I will do. Thanks for the feedback. don't use the tuner on the Pod. I have a rack tuner that is great.
  10. My guitar wireless receiver has both XLR and 1/4" phone outputs. Is there any benefit to using the Mic input on the HD500X?
  11. I have the HD500X and sometimes when I'm programming a sound the built in pedal wants to be EX-1 and sometimes it wants to be EX-2 and I can't find any rhyme or reason for it. I'm ready to take this thing back to the store unless I can figure this out.
  12. If I create a preset and split the amps left and right, but for live playing I only use one cable, will the sound come out as one mono output or will it still come out stereo and I'll lose my sound from one side of the mix? I know I could set them straight up the middle in the mixer stage, but I'm going to use this for recording and I'd like to have stereo outs when recording - but not live.
  13. I'd like to see global delays and reverb settings. These are two effects that are designed to emulate the sound of various rooms or concert halls. It would be nice to be able to set them just once and then they apply to all presets. This wold be especially beneficial when playing various locations. If playing outdoors we could turn up the effects and they would apply across all presets. Subsequently, This would also help if playing a room with many reflective surfaces and the effects need to be turned down.
