  1. you could get clever with this input also and a pedal board with an "A/B" box plug the guitar into the input on the A/B box and then "B" out to the pedal board, and "A" out to the input on the line 6 amp. This would give you all the sounds the line 6 amp can give you, and on the "B" side you now have another whole rig of sounds using the line 6 as a power amp! IMO, any more you should NEVER buy an amp now days that doesnt have a line in or atleast an effects loop "RETURN" so you can hook pedals, pods, to so you always have tone options then your never stuck with just one sound.
  2. Well sure, you know you can do that right? I actually put 2 output jacks (in series) on the back of the amp so it can run 2 4X12 cabinets if i wanted to hook it to the amp. For now its just an extra peavey cab that i have Thats a Fibson also
  3. What Marshall cabinet is it exactly? Most of the Tube amp cabinets Marshall sells are 8 or 16 ohms but the MG cabinets im not sure about if the are 4 or 8? Does the cabinet have any numbers on it? does it have an impedance value? Or do you not own it yet?
  4. Before with 8" speaker tone After with 4X12 speaker tone... BIG improvement HUGE! Built a box for the head and put the chassis, handle and cut down logo on/in the new head like box. I did the same thing to a Spider II 30, and a Spider IV 30 Still working on a Spider IV 75 I love em, 3-4 hours of wood work and painting really fun stuff
  5. One benifit IMO, is with the older version you couldnt use a computer to edit the Amp, with the 2.0 version you can then link the PC, across the room hooked to the pedal and then edit the patches. This IMO is the best part, you can see a sort of animated display click and drag to change the settings I loved the edit on my XT live pedal and the new Spider IV edit is about as cool.
  6. Isnt this what the MP3 in is for? it doesnt use the preamp only the power amp, its for any line level input so ide think it would work great as a sort of AUX input. just use a 1/8"-1/4" adaptor I believe you control the level with the "master" on the front
  7. Line 6 stuff works weird till you figure them out. When you turn the amp on the amp doesnt know yet where the edit knobs are set at. The amp doesnt know till a knob is moved. So when you turn the amp on there may be echo on and the knob is in the off position, you have to turn the echo knob up then back down before it knows what position you want the knob. One thing to mention the "headphones out" is what they call "emulated out" what this means is it has an effect on this output so it sounds like your in a small room or a studio to give the "emulation" the amp is being mic'd so there is a small echo effect like it would sound in a room with a microphone placed infront of the amp. Maybe your getting this "Emulation" thing mixed up with the echo or reverb being on? it kinda sounds like a light small room reverb but its the "emulation" out which is an effect like i think its 2 effects a cab emulation and a room emulation. Im not sure if you can turn it off IMO the emulation out makes the output not sound so sterile and lifeless
  8. before you turn it back on try turning the channel volume to max "Channel volume" not the master to max
  9. have you looked at the 2 versions of the line 6 edit? One is from 2011, latest is from 2012 maybe you used the older one? Or maybe you got it confused with a different editor? maybe the pod version? I have a IV 30 also and it has some amazing sounding amp tones ide like to tweak the effects for sure. I just got a IV 75 and its a bit over whelming like a pod, you can spend HOURS tweaking all the different settings and exploring the sounds. IMO the IV30 so far has the best sounds ive tried from a line 6 spider version so far. (still working with the 75)
  10. Why would they do that? That seem like a waste of a "Rehash" I was excited it was a "classic rock amp" full of "70 and 80s" rock tones. ill just paint my own knobs and let the one i have sit and collect dust, spend my $100. on something else. When i first seen the "classic" tag ill be honest i was excited to get one but pffffft not now.
  11. Whats this "ROMs" thing you speak of? have there been rom updates for these amps?
  12. I havnt has a 75 but i have a 120 stereo spider 3 and it has the same issue with the chorus and flange together. The only expansion pedal ive tried is the older FBV Shortboard it works on the IV 30 opens up all the patches the IV has in it Ide trade the sweep echo, tape echo, phaser and tremolo just to have a decent chorus and delay if memory was the issue To bad there isnt a mod chip hack like on the playstation to alter the things on the amp lol
  13. Im not confused i can hear it and see it on the panel of the amp it clearly says Chorus/flange thats 2 different modulation effects combined which to my ears sounds horrible i use chorus and i use flange but NEVER together at the same time and never as much on the lowest setting. I like a slooow chorus with a looong slope. If i cant alter it thats fine, its more of a rant then anything its just frustrating the amp tones from this thing are great and the delays are decent just wish i could get the chorus to work so the clean channels had some life to em. I mainly only use delay with distortion some times chorus but i like chorus with clean when playing chords it kinda helps with mild intonation issues guitars have the chorus kinda hides it
  14. what about with one of the pedals? can the effects be altered threw a program with one of the pedals hooked to a computer threw the USB? Do the spider Vs combine chorus and flange again in one control? I still find it hard to believe they went threw 4 versions of this amp and it was never changed. I guess it sounds good to most people? Dont get me wrong i like flange and i love chorus but just not both of them together is all i know im like a broken record On the chip i know it uses resistance to control the effect because the pot is a variable resistor it was wishful thinking that it could be turned off some how
  15. I used a black sharpie on my IV it is rather bright isnt it?
  16. Is there a pinout of the effects chip or anything where i can cut a trace on the board or lift a pin so there is only chorus without the flange? both of those effects combined just sound cheesy to my ears. Just think of all those older line 6 amps that would be useable if only you could select chorus or flange only? ditch phaser and ditch tremolo just make flange and chorus 2 seperate effects one or the other not combined. The delay IMO isnt to bad when its just barley on, but the flange/chorus? its so unusable even on the lowest setting its so overwhelming. It is a Spider IV 30 a friend gave me and ive managed to dial in some nice tones with it i just wish i could get a nice clean chorus sound from it that didnt sound like i was playing threw a jet engine or something.
  17. Each patch you change to will light up one of the 4 buttons above the knobs, they are either labled A-D or clean, crunch, metal, insane. Once you adjust the knobs to where you like you then push and hold one of the A-D or clean-insane buttons. It will blink then stop once its saved. Sorry this is a bit late lol
  18. I guess its the main board that i need i didnt realize that the effects and stuff are all on the same board. I got a Spider IV 150HD head and i swear this spider 3 120 sounds better i cant get a good crunchy sound out of the 150 like i can the 120.
  19. I fixed this spider 3 120 and it worked great for about 2-3 months but it is acting up again. All i need is the effects board that has the large processor on it. Ive had a few of the other Spiders and i think this Spider 3 has the best sound so ide really like to fix it and use it some more. I think it says #35-00-0308 on the board im needing. Rev. C
  20. Is there a mode that you can put the amp in so that if the knobs vibrate from extreme levels the settings dont change from the vibration? example: Your on a patch with the gain at say 80% but the patch you were on was a more rock crunch sound and you had the gain knob at 30% so the dial is at 9:00 You crank up the 80% gain patch and this vibrates the amp enough to move the gain knob which is actually at 9:00 and your heavy gain patch now drops to 30%
  21. Thanks, what about this. Can you "lock the knobs" say you have a patch then you crank it up loud sometimes the knobs will vibrate and the settings will change
  22. Well i guess the model packs are working im just an ID 10 T I guess the errors are for the bass model packs? which i dont want anyway. So i guess the model packs inthe list are indicated by the 2 digits next to each amp or effect. "CC" being classic collection, "MS" being Metal shop
  23. When i boot up my XT live it says right on the display model packs installed "FX Junkie, Classic, and Metal" but when i try and use them say threw the line 6 editor it wont let me select those amps, that i should be able to use. I like using the "line 6 edit" because its easier to see ont he computer rather then scrolling threw pages and trying to see the tiny display on the XT Live but it doesnt see like its updated or something to allow me to use the model packs that are installed. Can anyone tell me what i need to do to unlock or update or open these model packs so i can use then threw editor? Or is there a different edit program i can use to adjust the XTlive remotly like the editor. Here is my setup, Guitar>XTlive>Peavey power amp>Marshall 1960 Laptop>XTlive (threw USB) Any adjustments i make i do on the laptop which changes the settings on the XTLive Im not looking for anything free, not trying to hack anything i just want to get what i paid for to work. It doesnt look like what i have installed on my unit is even allowing me to use it. Or am i doing something wrong Since i bought the Classic amp pack and the Metal amp pack there shouldnt be any of these amps grayed out i should be able to access them and use them but i cant and i dont understand why.
  24. If it was me ide just run from the headphone out into the "line in, or CD/MP3" input most amps have a way to plug a device into the amp to jam with it more or less just puts the signal directly into the power section of the amp by passing the guitar preamp part of the amp. Ideally would be a 2X10 or a 2X12 combo and run the headphone out in stereo into the line in, in stereo if the line in on stereo amps are stereo? This way you could get the full effect of the chorus FX or the stereo delays which IMO make the tones sound more full and wide sounding. I really like the sound of a "wet/dry" setup where one side is just the raw guitar sound and the other side has some delay, reverb or chorus it seems to really make the tone more lively. The mono out of the XT still sounds good threw the front of a combo amp wit the right "output settings" though. One thing i do when ever i buy an amp now whether its a combo or a head i make sure it has a send and return because with units like the pods the return on the amp gives the amp the flexability to run these units and expand what you can do with the amp later if you get tired of the stock amps sound. With amp modeling getting better and better you can always hook something to it and use its power. Tech21 builds an amp called a "power engine" that thing is ideal for units like a pod, its just a power amp with speakers no preamp. IMO that amp will never be outdated
