Best way to hook up XT pro as a live rig?
BowerR64 replied to BowerR64's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
Yeah i think if i were to use an XTlive ide do it threw the headphones out of the live to the "line in or CD/MP3 in" on the amp. Or even the Left-Right output on the back. The problem is, i was wondering about the XT Pro, the red 2 rack unit. That things has a crap ton of outputs and im kinda confused which to use that has the best amplitude out for a power amp like you would use in a DJ rack or like running from a mixing console type of power amp. -
Have you tried the "custom tone" section? where other members upload and exchange tone files? Like if you want an AC/DC tone you search Angus young or search AC/DC tone and others have already made some patches and uplodaed them to the storage server for you to try. Ive found they usually need a little tweaking depending on if you use headphones or threw an amp or combo but its usually a good starting point http://line6.com/customtone/browse/podxt/

FBV Shortboard what is FX Loop?
BowerR64 replied to BowerR64's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
i figured it out, my tv was up a little loud before and i couldnt hear what it was doing. on this amp (spider 3 120) its actually turning off and on the noise gate. The "Stomp" is the "boost" or overdrive that i can hear and tell a difference when its on or off Thanks for the help! -
FBV Shortboard what is FX Loop?
BowerR64 replied to BowerR64's topic in FBV Controllers (MKI / MKII / 3)
I cant hear anything change, i know the FBV can be used with other amps/heads but im just trying to figure out why it turns on and off on the spider 3 if it has no FX loop i would think it would just not function. -
LOST MY MODEL PACKS
BowerR64 replied to wilford666's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
I bought all 3 model packs after i deleted them when i got my XT pro. If i were to buy a used XTlive off craigslist can i put the 3 packs that i bought for my XT pro on the XTlive or will i have to buy them all over again? Ofcorse it will have a different serial # or product ID or what ever but ide like to be able to transfer the patches ive created from the studio unit to the floor model when i take it out. -
I have a Spider iii 120 and a FBV Shortboard some of the patches have the "FX Loop" lit up and some of the patches in this amp (stock ones) dont have the FX Loop on. I know what an FX loop is but i dont understand it on this amp. This amp doesnt havean FX loop the Effects are built in so im not sure what its doing when this is on or off? Can some one clue me in on what this is doing?

I picked up one used off craigslist end of january 2017 and really like some of the tones in it. I was wondering if anyone could help me with what i think it an advanced question maybe. Say i find i tone i like on a patch and i want to tweak it or make one similar with a different amp or stomp box How do i find out the settings for say the bass, mids, treble and or the EQ? If i touch the dials it doesnt give me an exact number it will change depending on the position of the knob before i adjust it. if any of that make sense?

Has anyone used an XT pro as a live rig? I have a Rocktron velocity 100 and wanted to try and run the XT pro into the power amp then into a full stack. WHat would be the best way to run it? like what outputs from the XTpro and then what settings on the amp would get it to have the most realistic sound? Ive tried it a few times a few different ways and i always had issues with the cab simulator The cabs are Marshall 1960s with G12T-75s

Made a trade with a guy on craigslist and he threw in a spider 3 120 chassis he couldnt fix it and it was unusable. When i got it and tried it i could only use it for about 5 minutes before it started its rebooting cycle. It had been unused for so long i think it was reset. After it started its rebooting cycle it then started rebooting quicker till it was reset again. I watched a youtube video some guy put heatsinks on the standoffs and a heatsink on the larger processor chip on the effects board. This didnt seem like a good solution to me, i kinda know how the larger transistor/fets work and i know they are metal on the backside and are usually bolted to heatsinks. I bought a few of the smaller heatinks came in a quantity of 10 and were about the same size as the power transistors/voltage regulators that are on the effects board. instead of bolting them to the standoffs i put thermal paste on them and put them UNDER the transistors then bolted them back down with the standoffs. After a reset the amp functioned a little longer but they still were overheating, and the amp still shut down and rebooted. So the last thing i tried was a small 60mm fan i got off e-bay, hooked to a 4.5V wall wart supply i had laying around. That blows enough air over the sinks and keeps everything cool enough i can now use it for hours without any issues. Put about $15. into it with the heatsinks and fan and some time hacking the sinks with a dremel so they didnt touch any of the surrounding caps or components. I wired the wall wart to the power switch so that when i turn on the amp it also connects the wall wart to A/C and powers the fan. The fan in the image was a larger case fan i had for testing. The 60mm fan is bolted to the back threw te rear vents.

The only manual i can find doesnt really tell much just pilot manual nothing "advanced"

I picked up a spider 3 chassis, its the stereo 120 that came with 2X10 combo. It had an issue so the guy took it out of the box and just threw it in on a trade we did. It had the overheating problem with the effects chip and would reboot after a few minutes. I put some heatsinks on the processor and the 3 fets that had the standoffs then put a little fan inside hooked to a wallwart power supply (5v) i then hooked that to the power switch. Its a very stable amp and ive been using it every day for about a week now. I was curious that if a get one of the floor pedals for it that has the USB jack on it could i plug that into a computer and edit some of the patches? Are there any advanced settings i can access with a foot pedal or is it pretty much just stuck the way it is?

List of Line 6 Flagship amps?
BowerR64 replied to BowerR64's topic in Dream Rig - Line 6 Product Integration
Wow now that is an impressive list to say the least. -
picked up an AX2 recently and i really like this one. Just curious what some of the other older Flagship amps line 6 put out? I just took a chance on it on a trade a guy had it listed for 2 months and never sold it and im kinda curious what some of the other good ones they have had in the past?

Ide like to change the effects level and or turn off the flange in the Chorus/flange effect im not a fan of those 2 effects combined. I like chorus and i like flange but not together and the levels are just over whelming i want a more subtle effect of the modulation. I like how you can control the delay i wish the modulation was like this. Tap the tempo for speed and then turn the dial for the level of the effect wish they were all this way Would be cool if i could hold down a button and get into an advanced settings and change the levels

LOST MY MODEL PACKS
BowerR64 replied to wilford666's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
I had that happen to me also, i got a used one off guitar center and it had 3 model packs in it. When i got it i checked it out for a bit then i updated it tot he newest firmware because i know it can fix issues and i just like to keep everything current. It wrote over all 3 packs and i lost em. Since i got it from guitar center the old user i couldnt contact to have him transfer the packs over to me. Every time i boot it up it urks me that i may have some sounds im missing out on. -
POD XT Pro Output issue
BowerR64 replied to Matyrker's topic in POD 2.0, POD XT, Pocket POD, FloorPODs
THe pro has it on the front, but if you look at the back of the pro unit it says above all the outputs you can select a -10 or +4db output how you get into that im not sure. You can get to the different uotputs by pushing the tune button then turn the left select page knob then turn the effect tweak knob i would think its in one of those menus to change the output level. There are so many outputs on the pro i would think you could find one of them that would work. Ill tell you this, the headphone out is LOUD ive use it before into a power amp and it can put out a pretty hot signal. How many ohms are you running that Art SLA 1 into? I might also sugest pickup a caan of Deox-it from radio shack also, IMO this is a must have for any musician you need to spray this stuff into your jacks from time to time to keep them from oxidizing its worth its weight in gold IMO -
I believe its a setting you have to select to get it to "input" at this jack. You push the tuner button then you rotate one of the dials and it then changes from "guitar" to "line in" just like selecting what your going to run it into "the front of a combo" or "line out to a power amp" I think one you select that you can run that input. What i wonder is if the front DB switch will work on the output in the back? That Trio has like 3 different outputs i would think one of the 3 would work, one says "mixer" isnt that a "line level"? Here is how mine works, push "tune bypass" then turn the "select page" knob one turn to the right then you see the "input" high lighted once its high lighted then turn the other knob "effect tweak" to select what input your wanting to use. You can use anything as the input SPDIF, Aes left or right or L+R and SDIF L+R I think the levels you can select also, not sure how to change that though right on the back of the unit it says it can be selected for +4 or -10db that should get you a level you can use.

Spider IV 15 and FBV Mk II Express
BowerR64 replied to Lexikatscan's topic in Spider IV / Spider Online
WHen i go to download the spider edit software i dont see anything listed for the 15 or the 30 to reprogram the patches. Can some one confirm if they can reprogram the 15? i have a Spider IV 15 and ide like to reprogram a few of the patches but if it doesnt work then i wont get the FBV -
Is there a way to just have delay and chorus on the spider IV 15? If i use the floor pedal can i edit the effects so i just have a nice slow chorus then a tad bit of delay? Its the perfect grab and go amp being 15 watts is more then enough to jam around with my friend but having just delay gets stale all the time and the other effects are a bit much. Reverb and delay seem to be all that is really useful for me.

I kept reading things like could be my router, or my computer, to try it in different locations, then one that said since i bought it used there is no telling what could be wrong. I guess i kinda took that the wrong way The part that i find strange is that its not an epidemic issue yet line 6 made a service manual for the issue and posted what chip had the problem and how to test for the issue. This tells me they know its a problem, what is the problem and what needs replaced. I wouldnt be so upset if i gave $10-$20. for it. Here is my sugestions if anyone else gets one or has one. No reverb, cant use it at all. No chorus or flange of any amounts sounds good they all crackle and buzz. Delay can be on but at a minimal amount the leve needs to be so far down that its about off but loud you can just hear a hint of it. Some of the amp models sound bad at first but if you change them from green to red they clean up. Sometimes you can find a patch that the amp model crackles and you can change from red to green then back to red and save it and its fine. Not sure i understand that part but maybe it has something to do with the knob settings its saved as and then how yours are set when you recall it up. I went to one of the patches that has a pitch shifter with distortion and its all whacked i think its like bank 5 patch C its a total mess. If you dont need chorus, flange, delay, or any reverb this unit is great! has some nice sounding distortion patches

Your just like the other 2 guys, instantly its everything else but a problem with the unit. Again, if i was the only one with this exact same issue i could see your point but if you search like i did BEFORE i came to this forum you will read others with this exact same issue. As many posts as you guys have and the good rep ide think you would of at least heard of this before. There is a problem with this model, believe me what im telling you. Your going to see more upset owners other then just me. Ill call and see what they say. http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/3476 Maybe ill stir up enough of a stink that more regulars will make a note of this.
