  1. You're welcome Bill. I'm glad you're finding them useful. Cheers, Peter.
  2. This is my fine tuned JCM800 patch. This time I used the JCM800 pre and power section along with two parametric eqs. You can find it here: http://line6.com/customtone/tone/675458/ Cheers, Peter.
  3. Hi everyone, About three years ago, a friend brought an HD500 around for me to try. I only had the unit for a day but decided to put together a video of myself playing through various patches. I was really impressed with it back then and knew that at some stage I would get one. I just went through a lot of the amps without tweaking too much. The last clip I played to a backtrack that I made to show how well the POD sits in a mix. It was done in a bit of a hurry but it was enough to convince me that with a bit of tweaking, it's very possible to get great tones out of it. Cheers, Peter. This is the video that I put together. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDVGQCRcRHY&list=UUVpiiM9h1LvKhKjTBCL6YBg
  4. With a real JCM800 I always used to use a pedal in front of it to get that really tight, focused distortion. The best pedal that I found to get me there was the MI Audio Crunchbox. Unfortunately the Crunchbox isn't in the HD500 but I've found that the Tube Drive gets me fairly close. I've found that if you crank the gain on the JCM800 itself, the distortion can get a bit "flabby" in the low registers. By keeping the gain on the amp low and using the stompbox it does retain the tightness. Cheers.
  5. Whenever I double track I normally use exactly the same tone for both tracks. It's not really the different tones that gives you the fatness - it's the slight little timing differences in your playing that creates the "bigger" sound. That's why just copying and pasting the same track twice doesn't make any difference except make the track louder. I don't pan the gtrs hard left and right either. It's normally about 70 - 80% left and right. Hope this helps. Cheers, Peter.
  6. Thanks, bjnette, I used to own two of these amps - the 100 watt and the 50 watt. They really are not high gain amps so your description is pretty spot on. Bues rock. I have "improved" the tone a bit more and will upload the new patch sometime today. Cheers, Peter.
  7. The patch has been modified. I used the JCM800 Pre on the uploaded patch. The new patch that hasn't been uploaded yet uses the JCM800 pre and power section as well as a second eq to tame certain frequencies. If you listen back to back to the two patches the new one isn't as harsh. I'll upload the modified patch on Monday. Cheers. Peter
  8. The rhythm track is bridge and the solo track is a bit of both neck and bridge.
  9. Yes. I've done some more tweaking and now I feel like I'm getting somewhere. Glad you like it. Cheers.
  10. Ok, I've spent some more time tweaking the JCM800 patch and playing with the very crude and inaccurate eq that comes with the POD. I think that the "nasty" frequency has been tamed as much as I can get it. I made a small clip pf just the guitar into the HD500 and then into the desk. No outboard eqs, reverb or delays. All EFX from the POD. There's no backtrack this time. Just the gtr and the POD. Please excuse the rough playing - my ears are fried at this stage but I'm fairly happy. The track is called JCM Goodness. Cheers, Peter. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12977198
  11. Thanks Radatats, My aim with the patch was to try and get rid of that "nasal" frequency in the HD500 without resorting to an outboard eq. It's so easy to remove the annoying frequency with an ourboard eq - not so easy with the POD eq. I've been working on the patch a bit more and I think I've got closer to the tone that I want. Cheers.
  12. Nope, tried clicking but nothing happens. No edit box, no grab spot. Tried with Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. Any other ideas? Cheers.
  13. Thanks for the link but how do I enter info into the categories?
  14. Hi guys, I finally got around to uploading my JCM800 patch. If anyone can tell me how to edit the info on Customtone, I'd really appreciate it. Cheers, Peter.
  15. Can someone please tell me how to edit info once I've uploaded a patch to Customtone? There is a message that comes up saying that it can be done but I can't seem to get it right. Thanks, Peter.
  16. Hey, thanks John. Much appreciated. The patch will be available before the end of the week. Cheers, Peter.
  17. Thanks, Per. I've been really busy and a bit slack in uploading the patch but I will definitely do it before the end of the week. Cheers, Peter.
  18. Thanks for the feedback guys, I haven't registered on Custom Tone yet but as soon as I do I'll upload the patch. Cheers, Peter.
  19. Hi everyone, It’s been a long time since I was here. I used to visit here when I used my POD 2. I still have it but have now acquired an HD500X. I’ve had it for about a week and couldn’t wait to try out my favourite amp – the JCM800. I created a few patches using this amp sim and decided to hear what it would sound like in a recording. I put this track together and recorded two gtr parts (double tracked) to hear how well they “gell†in a mix. I’m quite impressed. I loved the JCM800 in the old POD 2 but I think that it’s now come of age. It did require a little bit of tweaking to get there but I think that the result speaks for itself. If you’re interested in hearing the track the link is: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12966277 Cheers, Peter.
