  1. Thanks Darrel, Yes, I've had the Helix for about 2 months and have only now started to get some time to use it. I'm glad that my HD500X videos were able to help you. Thanks, Robbie When it comes to modelling, I find that with regards to EFX less is always more. I try not swamp my patches in EFX, especially reverb. Cheers, Peter.
  2. Hi everyone, I've just uploaded the first part in my series on the Helix. In Part 1 I'm demoing some of the patches that I've created. I used a Les Paul and a Tele in the video. The Helix was plugged directly into the desk and I used the built in speaker cabs. No IRs used. Hope you enjoy, Cheers, Peter.
  3. Yes, I think that's what it is. More predictable and rational. I really hope that Line 6 are gonna put the Dimension chorus into the Helix. That was my go to chorus.
  4. Thanks, Duncan. I have that the actual patch creation is easier on the Helix. I do miss a few effects though that the HD500X had but not the Helix. Cheers, Peter.
  5. Hi everyone, I finally got a Helix to play around with. I was busy putting a new track together for my new album and thought it might make a nice demo to show some of the tones. I recorded the Helix directly into the desk. The drummer, Larry Rose and I put the basic structure together and I added the guitars. I used the Les Paul playing with my Plexi patch and the Strat using my Hiwatt patch. I used the Les Paul in the "chorus" parts of the song with the Strat playing the "verse" parts. The first verse is completely clean and the second is slightly more driven. I thought that the Strat worked well with this patch. The only post processing that I carried out was a bit of noise reduction on my Strat parts as my Strat is quite a noisy guitar. There is also a chorused clean Les Paul playing through the whole track. For this part I used my Jazz Rivet patch. I also decided to track the bass through the Helix and used my G Cougar 800 patch. Overall I'm loving this unit. I'm also busy putting together my first video in the series on the Helix. Hope you enjoy... Cheers, Peter. https://soundcloud.com/peter-john-hanmer/still-want-you-back
  6. Thanks, not sure what you mean. Can you be more specific about what you want to know about the recording and I can help. Cheers, Peter.
  7. This video deals with patch creation. I had a lot of messages asking about the patches that I created in my first video, so I decided to demonstrate how I made some of those in a step by step format. The most popular requests were for the Plexi, the Treadplate and the Jazz Clean. I tried to make it as clear as possible and covered everything from scratch including eqs, reverbs etc. I hope that this will be useful in helping get the most out of your units. Cheers, Peter.
  8. Thanks, Mc. I'm about to upload my next video in the Firehawk series. In this vid I demo how I created some patches including the Jazz Clean, Plexi and Treadplate. All the settings are mentioned in the videos. Cheers, Peter.
  9. I've been trying out some of the clean tones in the Firehawk FX and put together a little demo using the Jazz Clean and the Hiway 100. I used a Les Paul for all the tones. The track is pretty straight forward but I think it demos these tones well. I'm pretty impressed with the final result. It's a decent modeller with a lot of great tones in it. Cheers, Peter. https://soundcloud.com/peter-john-hanmer/firehawk-fx-clean
  10. Thanks for the comments everyone. @Mcbeddall - Thanks for the info. I'm gonna check it out. If I can get it to work I'll upload those patches to my site for download. @ PRSguy - Yes, I agree. It does sound as good as the HD500X. The main difference is that It's a bit easier to get tones out of it. Yes, I still had to eq some patches but the eq is extremely user friendly. Regarding the Bluetooth, there were occasions where I lost connection which was a bit frustrating but once connected again it seemed to work fine. Thanks for your comments on the playing. I haven't upgraded the firmware yet to 1.20 but will do so soon. Cheers, Peter.
  11. Thanks, guys. @ Mcbeddall, I want to try and have my patches available on my website but it doesn't look like it's possible. It's either saved to the cloud, or the FH itself. Not really ideal for me. If I can work it out I'll put my patches up for download. Cheers.
  12. Hi everyone, I've just finished uploading Part 1 in my video series on the Firehawk FX. If anyone wants to compare the tones to the HD500X, the link is: http://line6.com/support/topic/15768-firehawk-fx-part-1-of-my-video-series-now-uploaded/ I've found that the tones are quite similar but they were easier to dial in. I particularly enjoyed the ability to edit patches on a tablet. (Haven't tried the smartphone yet). I recorded straight into the desk with no post processing. Cheers, Peter.
  13. Carrying on from my series on the POD HD500X, I've just uploaded the first part of the Firehawk FX series. I've been quite impressed with the tones that this unit is capable of and have covered a few of the amps in the video. The guitars were recorded straight into the desk and no post processing was carried out. Reverbs and delays were from the Firehawk. I found that it was fairly easy to come up with tones that I liked. I plan to cover a number of topics in the series including effects, eq and patch creation. Cheers, Peter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcY_NO4tySk&feature=youtu.be
  14. Have a look at the video I put together on the model packs. I did a small clip of the modded JCM800. Cheers, Peter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHLHrh1NKlw
  15. Very nice demo! Those acoustic tones were incredible. Cheers Peter.
  16. Thanks, Palico. I'll check it out. Cheers.
  17. Thanks guys, @ leesteel Definitely not quitting. I've only just started. The plan is a brand new series on the next Line 6 product. I still love my Hd500X though. @ Palico I haven't thought about it but you have got my interest. I'd like to hear more from you about this and what kind of stuff you'd want me to cover. I'm definitely interested. Cheers Peter.
  18. This is the final video in the series and I decided to touch on some of the effects in the HD500X. I also wanted to demonstrate how well a few analogue drive pedals work with the POD as well. I've had a huge amount of fun putting these videos together and I hope that they've been informative whilst helping users get the best out of their PODs. I do intend to start a new series soon so stay tuned and hopefully I'll see you soon. Cheers, Peter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OwZ20Sz2PvM
  19. I would say that the GEQ is great for the times when you're playing on an unfamiliar PA that might have a "harshness" at a particular frequency. I've played gigs where this happens quite frequently. The GEQ is really good for dialling out that harshness. A decent sound engineer should also be able to do this at the mixing desk but as we all know that doesn't always happen. Sometimes it's best to sort it yourself.
  20. Thanks guys, much appreciated. I'm looking for suggestions for any future vids. Any ideas?
