Yes this is a much clearer way to say it. :) There will be more Cab Packs and Amp Packs on the way for sure. I have quite an impressive collection of super rare amps and cabs after all. F.ex. all variants of the pre-Rola Greenback. ;)

Hi! Let me try and clarify things for you guys. As of yesterday we're also offering Amp Packs, before that we've done Cab Packs that are impulse response (IR) collection. Here's a video overview of our MEGA OVERSIZE Cab Pack and how it works with Helix: This particular Cab Pack comes with 8 mics and 5 brightness positions per mic. In addition 8 real life mic mixes. When you get these packs there's a separate format for Helix but it also comes with extremely high resolution 96khz 24bit 500ms IR files that ensure that the IR's are future proof. This is the microphone list: Shure™ SM57 Shure™ SM7B Shure™ SM58 Royer™ R121 Sennheiser™ e906 Sennheiser™ MD421 Beyerdynamic™ M160 Neumann™ KM184 Yesterday we released our first official Amp Pack which includes "A.M.P."s as in A = authentically M = matched P = presets. The purpose of these presets is to end the debate of "do modelers sound like real amps" and actually create soundalike presets of real life tube amplifiers. Here's a comparison clip between the real amp vs ML Amp Packs: ML Amp Packs come with one sample IR to get you going. Of course ML Amp Packs and Cab Packs work perfectly when used together. Ask me anything. I'll chime in every now and then to answer any questions.

Very humbled by the hype you guys put up here. My own website just went online two weeks ago but I've done IR's professionally for about 5 years now. Chances are you've heard my IR's in use without knowing it. Periphery III (and IV by the way!) was tracked with ML IR's and quite many big name artists use them live as I've worked on some of those live rigs as well. There are more IR's on the way and my cabinet collection is pretty impressive. Just starting off with "MEGA Boogey" since those are by far the most requested ones. This was released like an hour ago so I think you should have a look:

Hi guys and thank you so much for the nice words. I've had a Helix for a few months now and I most definitely can make it sound like my real amplifiers with our IR's. I'll post clips soon. I don't necessarily feel like I miss having literally a hundred advanced options that something like my Axe-Fx III has. We're actually working on releasing some Helix compatible presets that work perfectly with our IR's so keep an eye out: ml-sound-lab.com As for free IR's we keep things pretty tight but occasionally there are free IR's that get shared. Here's one to give you an idea what an "ML mix IR" sounds like: http://bit.ly/MLSoundLab

My first Helix video: John Petrucci and Periphery tones!
MLSoundLab replied to MLSoundLab's topic in Helix
I'm really happy to see people who are familiar with my work throughout the years. It's definitely more liberating with the .wav format and people being able to use the IR's without any hiccups with any IR loader. Actually I was a bit overwhelmed by the response. :) If you guys have requests for something you'd like to see me work on, please let me know. Is there something that's missing for the Helix right now? -
My first Helix video: John Petrucci and Periphery tones!
MLSoundLab replied to MLSoundLab's topic in Helix
So happy to hear that! It's all about the 57 for most people and it's no wonder. It's the main mic for myself even and I have mics that are 15 times more expensive that always become blend mics. Something that's new from us is having more Shure options, the 58 is very similar to the 57 but it's got more of that proximity going on so it's more of a focused low end. The SM7B however sound very different but is also amazing on it's own. Give those a try if you're 57 fan. :) A lot of Helix guys have been praising these IR's. This post made my day: -
I've had the Helix LT for about three months now and I've got to say it's incredible how much value you get for how little it costs. 1) I can make it sound just like my real amps (Mesa Mark V, Dual Rectifier, JCM800 etc.) 2) It changes the channels on my amps and has all the effects I need and 3) It's super easy to use. Here's my first video with it and I hope you guys like it: If you liked the tones, we did actually just release a Helix compatible pack so go check it out: https://ml-sound-lab.com/

Helix vs Mesa Dual Rectifier vs Axe-Fx III vs Kemper + FREE PRESET!
MLSoundLab replied to MLSoundLab's topic in Helix
Very good post. I think people have seen this type of comparisons done unfairly so many times that at this point seeing a title like this already makes people cringe. I personally feel like all of these modelers do an amazing job sounding like real amplifiers. I was just playing around with my Mesa Mark V yesterday and comparing it to the Helix Cali Mark IV and I got the Helix to sound and feel exactly like my Mark V with tweaks done inside the amp settings. I was really impressed I must say. I'm impressed with all of these modelers and working with them on a daily basis definitely makes it clear that they have different strengths. Helix is the fastest to use. Really fast! Fractal is the most versatile. Tweaker's wet dream. Kemper is amazing for people who want to capture their own amps or people who want to purchase pro profiles. What I was trying to showcase in the video was that in the right hands they can all do what you want them to do.- 18 replies

Thank you guys once more. :) I definitely intend to share a lot of free stuff. I hope this doesn't come across as a pushy advert but I will be sharing lots of cool stuff on the YouTube channel so be sure to follow it... this is not subscription bait.. no need for that, following is enough. :D When I have something really awesome I'll post it here as well.- 18 replies

Hey there and I'm really happy to see familiar people in here! Those Cab Pack releases are exclusive Fractal releases so there's nothing I can really do with them at this point. However I think I have some awesome news for you quite soon. "Soon"? Yes I think I did that here as well. :D- 18 replies

Helix vs Mesa Dual Rectifier vs Axe-Fx III vs Kemper + FREE PRESET!
MLSoundLab replied to MLSoundLab's topic in Helix
I think we're a part of the evolution right now. Maybe around 10 years ago many people tried modelers and they were no match for a tube amp but still hold on to that memory a decade later when in reality there's really no point in using tube amps for any other reason than pure love for tube amps. I have quite many tube amps that are always going to stay with me, don't get me wrong but if I was to tour with a band there's no way I'd take the risks that come with tube amps when I know I can get a sound this close. It's a good time to be a guitarist!- 18 replies

Helix vs Mesa Dual Rectifier vs Axe-Fx III vs Kemper + FREE PRESET!
MLSoundLab replied to MLSoundLab's topic in Helix
In case this was sarcasm I haven't seen a proper apples-to-apples comparison like this. Most comparisons are not so great and usually it's because people don't generally understand the importance of using the same cabinet simulation. It actually takes a lot of work to make these comparisons fair like this one is. I used Cubase 10 for doing this comparison. All modelers and also the amp were fed the same exact DI signal. The IR was captured using the best capture methods in the industry that I keep secret since that's how I make a living. :) Not sure if you know my background but I make IR's for some awesome people. For example you can hear my IR's in use on the Periphery III album.- 18 replies

Helix vs Mesa Dual Rectifier vs Axe-Fx III vs Kemper + FREE PRESET!

Well thank you! It's a very basic Recto type of sound but this way it sounded really close to my amp. :) It's not a whole lot of gain so for leads you may want to crank that gain up.- 18 replies

Hi there this is my first post! I'm a proud owner of a Helix LT and today I shot a video comparing it to my Mesa Dual Recto, Axe-Fx III and Kemper. Spoiler alert: I can make them all sound pretty much identical with some specific tweaks. Download link for the free preset can be found in the YouTube description. Here's the video: If you're interested in trying out more of these types of presets please let me know. :)
